What Parents Say
Brookville Center receives mixed reviews. Parents with children who have autism or behavioral needs report positive experiences with supportive staff and good developmental outcomes. However, some parents have experienced rude front desk staff and report the facility may not adequately accommodate children with physical disabilities.
The teachers and assistants are excellent at the Brookville School in New Hyde Park. But the one younger nurse needs to learn how to talk to parents. She lectured me about when to send my son back after a stomach virus. I did actually know the correct protocol. But she gave me major attitude. Then she said my son would be “closely” checked after in case he needs to be sent home.
This is a great place for every kid with a problem. Weather is physical or with autism, the staf members here make the kids and parents fill welcomed. Thanks to my daughter's teachers, nurses and therapists, today she's able to handle herself socially very well. My wife and I are happy and proud of the job that this center fulfilled. THANK YOU ALL.
The only nice person there is Linda Ward. Kind, polite and a true professional( spoke with her via phone). There were two heavy set white women working the front when we arrived and they were so rude just stared and laughed at us. Don’t know why. Maybe they think they work in a circus ? No good morning, no nothing. I had to approach the intercom area for them to even talk to me / acknowledge me after saying good morning to them. Another woman came to greet us shortly after she was nice too but our encounter with her was brief as we left due to a lack of non professional environment. Not bringing my daughter here. Totally unprofessional slobs - the two women rather animals behind the plastic or whatever that’s called at the front desk. If you want to see tweedle dee and tweedle dumb look no further. Maybe they will be nice if offered food and peanuts.
Bottom line this school is good for children with autism and behavioral problems. This is not the school for children with physical disabilities. My son has cerebral palsy and it was not working out even though they said his physical limitation was not a issue. My son is now in Carman road school and it has been the best decision I ever made.
Great for kids learning and development
