I really love the environment here at BCC. This is currently my 2nd semester here, and I have nothing but great things to say. My professors and bosses have all been wonderful, and every time I'm on campus, I feel a sense of community and belonging. 😊
Great local 2 year college! Lots of choices to help you get your associates degree. Affordable prices and lots of help if you need it in the financial aid office. Good option if you still don't know what you want to do, but want to at least get your basic classes done so when you go off to another college you can transfer most of all of what you did here. Nice campus, friendly students and staff. Easy parking and lots of spots. Also plenty of busses to get you to and from here. They have a good cafeteria upstairs, but they are also building a new cafe downstairs right next to the entrance which will be nice!
Everyone is very nice , its like a tight community and professors make you feel like at home. College itself might feel old stylish but they have dunkin and the cafe, huge library with tutors. Plus they have different buildings for IT, Medical professions. Parking is always available and security is always around. Honestly if i had extra income I would go for another degree in this college, people are very welcoming.
I give a 3.5. I graduated last year after going back and forth for years. Most professors are excellent, but there was a moment it seemed like they were desperate for professors. I had one who admitted she was recently fired from PCCC yet got a job at BCC. They do provide adequate resources for students to help you pass. My main issue with Bergen was the counseling department. I wasted thousands of “free” government money at Bergen and was given the run around for years for one of their healthcare programs. During my time there, I had courses “expire” for my program that I had to pay to retake, even though I got an A the first time. I also had the curriculum change for the program change while I was doing prerequisites making me have to take a whole different (but it was really the same) course, which I also had got an A on originally. I feel your experience at BCC will differ greatly based on your support system. I was young, inexperienced and didn’t have any or parents to come with me when I started Bergen. I genuinely thought all the people in the counseling department wanted to help me get into my programs and graduate, but I was wrong. I think staff was overwhelmed, and since I was a young girl alone, they didn’t feel the need to treat my situation with the same urgency they would those that werent alone. I don’t believe I was offered the same information for certain things people who were accompanied by experienced and educated adults got. There were some good counselors, especially Larry (? Black man with glasses) but by the time I graduated he wasn’t even counseling anymore. I would get passed to different ones and given all vastly different information every time. They have excellent healthcare programs and some classes taught me things I will never forget, but I do resent the amount of money I wasted due to miscommunications from the counseling department and my naivety. PCCC & ECCC definitely caters to working adults and first generation college students more than Bergen does.
This school has turned me away MULTIPLE TIMES despite me asking for help. I have been struggling to even talk to someone competent at this school, every staff member I have tried talking to is so incredibly rude and dismissive. Last semester a professor (Professor Moon) out loud shamed one of my classmates for their abilities in math. This person shared with me they have a learning disability that the professor was made aware of beforehand. If you have any sort of disability or need help in any basic way AVOID THIS SCHOOL.
