What Parents Say
Baroody Camps offers engaging enrichment and summer camp programs with positive feedback on activity quality and instruction. However, parents have experienced significant communication issues, unclear pricing for transfers, and logistical problems with location information.
I've heard a lot of good things about the camps. But recently, our local school, the camp that my child chose was not fit to run after we've already paid for it. Then when i spoke to somebody through one of the emails I was told that registration is closed and then another person told me, well, we can transfer him. But nobody told me that would be additional fee to transfer a child from one camp. That was already paid for to another. It took them three weeks to tell me this. And then I got sent emails back from a switchboard email. So lack of communication and me forking out more money as a single mom. This is definitely not a great experience for me. But before I was told about the additional fees, I told them that I guess I have to walk my child down from his classroom. To put him into the other camp because I could not get back a word from anybody with phone calls. And emails sent to them. I could have used that money to put into my household, but no I used it to make my child happy. As a single parent full time. So i'm not very happy about just finding out.I have to pay more additional fees for him to switch to a different class. That was tanked and canceled.Because it didn't have enough people to run it. Definitely, don't feel like this was a great experience for me.At all, after dealing with this for 3 weeks of not given the right information to me and camps start next week.
My daughter has attended 3 weeks of fencing camp (1 hour each). Archery will be next. My youngest daughter is taking Explosive science corse for enrichment after school. Fencing is going well so far. Will update this review by Christmas.
My grandson had a fabulous time at the summer camp. The teachers were terrific and the location and activities were excellent. My only criticism is that the address that was given did not lead to the actual location on Google Maps. The first day I had to take a long hike across Bluemont park from the parking lot on the north side. The second day I took a long hike from a little parking lot on the southside. It was extremely frustrating until I found out that the correct parking lot is the one used for the Bluemont Railroad Junction. Why couldn’t this information have been given at the start? I know that quite a few people were very much inconvenienced
We used Baroody Camps in summer for some of their summer camps and also some of their free classes in the morning. The fitness fanatics, magic classes and trivia kept my 6 yr old engaged and excited to compete for fitness. He showed us some of the magic tricks he learned and also challenged us to do some of the fitness exercises with the rigor he did in class...phew!!
Baroody after school enrichment is great. Baroody summer camp not so much. Staff lacked communication with each other and with parents.
