What Parents Say
Parents consistently praise YWCA Young Wonders for its caring, welcoming staff and supportive environment. Children reportedly enjoy attending and form strong connections with staff members. The facility is noted for combining quality childcare with an educational curriculum and well-organized facilities.
It's a Caucasian woman in his office who lied about me and got my daughter taken from me. Do not trust the therapists in this place because they will call the court system or anybody else, including the police station, and report you; they are not trustworthy. I do not recommend this place at all for anyone. Please be careful dealing with them, even with your children, because they are not safe. I do not recommend this place. This lady is very dangerous there, and I do not appreciate that she got my daughter taken from me. I got my child from me taking from me for no reason because they liars, they lied on me. They called the police on me and they called the courthouse and they wrote a statement. Please do not go to this place. This was the worst place I ever been to in my life. They made my life a nightmare they supposed to make you safe, but they made it worse. Please don’t go to Them. For nothing
Seeing my daughter run off to hug staff each day before we leave tells me everything I need to know about her experience with Young Wonders! I love the connections and friendships she has built there. In addition to the loving staff who work in childcare, there is an educational curriculum included. This is more than just a daycare, Young Wonders is really dedicated to the growth of my child's mind!
In regards to the before & after school program, there are a few staff members who communicate well with me and my child. My overall issue with the program is the improper, if any, training of the staff; this includes staff on "days off" and winter & spring break camp. Staff at the camp and "days off" are mostly on their phones and in groups instead of being spread out and engaged with the children. There was an instance when a parent, aggressively, approached my child and, to my surprise, staff did not intervene. I'm also concerned about the way my child is treated, specifically by the individuals in the leadership role.
My child had multiple problems at this facility with issues we can only replicate with attention deprivation, such as if she's left alone while food is being made. When this was brought up to the staff, we were told our child needed, "too much one-on-one time," as if it was her fault. When we originally looked into different options, we consulted each option on what facilitations they had for special needs children. While on the lower spectrum of this, my child still falls under this. YWCA told us that their staff were trained to handle even some more extreme cases of special needs. When ADD started to affect her in-care behavior, we we're told that the facility, "doesn't have the resources," to provide for special needs, and we would need to, "provide resources," to assist with this, whatever that means. Everything about the program screams negligence, and it doesn't help that the first teacher she was with was removed from staff for precisely that.
We had to pull our kid out. She was kicked by another kid, they couldn't find her when we went to pick her up, and when we picked her up, two other kids were having a knock down drag out fight in front of one of the caretakers. Also, when we dropped our kid off we watched a kid gleefully push over a bookshelf in front of a caretaker. He'd obviously been working on that for a while when we walked in. There's no structure and the only way to describe it was total chaos. I'm honestly kind of surprised they still have their license. You get what you pay for I guess. Would not recommend unless you are training your kid for some sort of combat sport.
