What Parents Say
Parents consistently praise the YMCA West Child Development Center for its caring, engaged staff and curriculum-based approach that balances academics with play and social-emotional learning. Children are reported to be excited about attending, and parents appreciate the structured programming, field trips, weekly communication, and flexibility offered by the center. The facility has successfully retained families' trust despite some past staffing changes.
My two children attend this center, and we feel so fortunate for that! My daughter is very reluctant to leave my side, but loves her teacher, Ms. Ari, so much she goes to her with open arms. The teachers are very caring towards my kids, and both my kids speak with excitement about going to "school." I feel the program offers a good mix of art, physical activity and more traditional academic type learning. My kids always have a fun story of something they did each day. As a parent, I appreciate that this is a curriculum based program with integrated social emotional milestones. I have been pleased with the interactions I have had with the program director, as they are clear, timely and show genuine care and concern for the students. Also, we like to travel, and I appreciate that this program offers discounted weeks when my children are out of school due to travel. That has been an unexpected, but appreciated, perk!
My son is in the preschool program at this school and he LOVES all of the staff! The program tracks his development to make sure he is on pace to be ready for kindergarten and partners with the parents on how we can be involved. They take him on field trips, complete creative lessons, have inside/outdoor play, and do fun projects to keep his active mind engaged while still providing stability with a daily schedule. Amanda, the site director, sends weekly emails to the parents on what the class is focusing on for the week so we can ask him about his day. Thank West Y Child Development Center!
The West YMCA Child Development Center is an incredible find if you are looking for a quality, top notch daycare provider. I am a grandmother of two (3yr old boy and 6yr old girl) that absolutely love this daycare and all that it has to offer. My grandson is learning pre-K curriculum, which will make his transition to Kindergarten easier and ready to attend public school. The Teachers and Staff are excellent. They are warm, caring and loving people, who open their hearts to all of these little children and toddlers, teaching and guiding them to be kind to one another, to share, and to respect one another. My 6yr old granddaughter has attended the summer camp program at this facility, and she enjoyed the arts and crafts time with other children her age, keeping her happy, busy, and learning fun things outside of her public school classroom during the long summer break. Both grandchildren get to go on fun field trips, to educational and playtime places such as the MK Nature Center, the swimming pool at the West YMCA, and several of the nice parks in the Boise valley. This is just a very few activities and fun learning lessons this awesome facility and staff do on a daily basis, keeping my grandchildren safe, and giving me peace of mind while I am at work. I recommend this Development Center and the YMCA staff for anyone out there looking for these special qualities I have briefly mentioned above. I cannot say enough about how thankful I am for the West YMCA Child Development Center!
Our son has been going to the West Y Child Development Center for the past two years. We originally came across the Y after a long period of keeping our son at home due to closures from COVID during most of 2020. We had no intentions of starting our son at the Y just yet on the day we went to tour it- we were only looking for future reference. However, we were very impressed with the facility as well as the teachers on that day and ended up enrolling him due to that. Over the past two years, they, like many other businesses, schools, & establishments in the Treasure Valley have had some staff turnover and have dealt with their own challenges from time to time. However, through it all, there has not been a single day that our son has been sad or reluctant to go to school. He walks, if not runs in every day excited to see his friends and teachers. I cannot express how much that means. The program director has been working very hard to adjust the curriculum and restart activities such as field trips to local places in town in order to foster more learning opportunities outside of the usual classroom. I also really appreciate the communication with weekly plans for the kids learning as well as quarterly parent teacher conferences/updates. We are truly thankful to have the West YMCA Child Development Center. For us, it is a great mix of structure that is needed prior to starting kindergarten and overall fun to just let kids be kids.
The west ymca staff and teachers have been a huge blessing for me and my two sons. They provide great care and development in the short time they get with the kids. They are Always doing fun activities. They have helped with things such as winter clothes and worked with me financially. I do t know what I would do without them. Thanks for caring!
