Ymca - Ustick Ys Kids

What a mistake! I enrolled my daughter for the summer program and she hated it. Communication with the program is awful. Agendas would get texted out late at night, if at all. Some of the counselors', including the administrator, would talk down to the kids and yell at them. It was common for the kids to be told to "Zip It!!" and "Don't speak until I tell you that you can." They were very demeaning. When interacting with these people at pickup/dropoff, I could tell some of them would be better suited not interacting with children. One day, my daughter told me there was a case of head lice and all the kids had to have their hair inspected. Parents weren't informed until 8-days later, when more kids were found to have head lice. I ended up unenrolling and keeping my child at home. Prior to this, we used Boise P&R park camps until we aged out. I highly recommend that program over Ustick Y.

I cannot express enough how fantastic this program has been throughout this pandemic. They take proper steps to ensure cleanliness and follow CDC guidelines to keep our kids and the staff safe and healthy. The staff genuinely care about the kids and helping them with their remote learning. They have stepped up to help act as teachers assistants when our kids needed it the most. The accounting is pretty seamless, and responsive to changes. I am also beyond grateful for the financial assistance program. Thanks for everyone's hard work to be an important part of the community and a very important part of our family life.
