Ymca - Southeast Family Branc

This place is awsome! I’ve comed a lot the staff is really nice the gym equipment is in perfect condition also the pools and basketball, court teen nights are awesome and my kid go to every teen night, every staff is kindly and are all ears if I could give this 6 stars i would everything is very nice and modern and everything in the gym is new and well placed overall this place is awsome! Cool and kind staff mordern stuff and cool basketball court!.

I've been consistently working out at the YMCA for the past year or so, but I've gone many times on and off since Feb 2024. Although I first started coming to the YMCA to goof off with my friends, (which is the same story for a lot of the younger kids that come) eventually I started to notice some, albeit small, progress in my arms when looking at myself in the mirror a few weeks later. This small progression fueled my drive for going to the gym, and I genuinely find so much happiness in working out here. If I'm having a terrible day or week, this place is my escape. I love working out and making myself go to complete failure, as that's where I find my happiness. I've made substantial progress in my physique, gained a lot of muscle and strength, and I've gone from feeling extremely insecure about taking my shirt off or changing in PE locker rooms (cause I used to be super skinny, like 95 lbs as a 14 year old) to feeling comfortable doing both of those things. (Now 130-135 at 16) I even started swimming here and playing basketball as well, and it's just been an amazing experience. The court is great quality, the basketballs are also great, although some need to be filled with more air. The swimming pool is also great, it's warm compared to most, and the hot tub is really nice too. Now, I'm just a tiny bit hesitant to give this all 5 stars for a few reasons, but I understand that these cons are quite hard to fix. (Keep in mind though, I don't give many things all 5 stars as 5 stars means absolute perfection in my opinion) 1. I wish there was an extra auxiliary gymnasium that's always open. The main gymnasium is 80% of the time taken up by classes/games, and it's really annoying a lot of the times. I wish there was just an extra gymnasium that would always be open if people want to play basketball. Having to find out what times the gymnasium's not having any classes and then planning your whole day around it is difficult, especially when you want to bring a bunch of friends over to play as well. 2. I wish there were more specialized machines in the weight room. Some examples are, smith machines, Lateral Raise Machines, Standing calf raise machines, etc. Since these cons are kind of minimal, I'm still very happy to give the YMCA Mill Creek a 4 star rating, I love it here.

I’ve been coming to this location for a couple of years now and I love it. Always a great work out. The fitness equipment is great and in good condition and the group fitness classes are so fun! The instructors are always high energy and make each class so fun. I really enjoy working out here. The front desk folks are always friendly, and I have to bug them a lot with my nationwide membership.

We arrived a few minutes late due to unexpected traffic diversions. By the time we reached the facility, the next session had already started. That session had only 1 child enrolled, even though the class capacity is 6, yet we were not allowed to join or offered a makeup option. Additionally, no one answers phone calls, which makes it very difficult to communicate in time-sensitive situations. The front-desk experience felt unprofessional and lacked accountability, which was disappointing—especially when flexibility would not have disrupted the class. Policies are understandable, but basic customer service, responsiveness, and empathy were missing. Overall, a frustrating experience.

Find another outlet to relieve your pre-holiday stress ☹️ Indredulously , all 3 YMCA of SC locations are closed December 22-26 for “Wellness Week”! I also got a laugh out of their sign encouraging us not to wait to work on our New Year’s resolutions! Does anyone else find this ironic and bad timing?
