Ymca Kids Center

My wife and I travel a lot. We use the local YMCA in whatever city we are visiting. Madisonville Hopkins County YMCA is our home Y. While it is smaller than many that we visit, it compares very well as far as being clean and friendly, has good equipment and is very well maintained. The staff is friendly and the new pool is top quality. If you live in the area, I would highly recommend joining the YMCA here.

My family and I have had a family membership for over 5 years. Never once late on a payment. My 16 year old loves it here and comes all the time. Well Times are hard right now and I have not been able to make my monthly payment for 3 months. So today I brought my son to the YMCA and I went in to talk to them. I offered to set up a weekly payment plan and wanted to terminate our family plan bc my son is the only one that comes I chose the plan that is for my son only. Going to pay them weekly for the 3 months I did not pay ($150.00dol), and pay monthly for my son. Perfect, right. NOOOOOOOO they thought that was a horrible plan Said I would be paying for 2 plans at the same time. Well duh. I would be paying off my debt and paying for my sons new membership. The guy at the front desk said no, I disagree. Your son can not be on the property until everything is paid in full He comes here 4 days a week Then the man said my supervisor will call you Monday and talk to you about what you owe bc apparently there are lots of hidden fees and stuff. I'm so upset. I PAID FOR A FAMILY MEMBERSHIP FOR OVER 5 YEARS, NEVER LATE, but the YMCA here in Madisonville doesn't care about values or how this hurt my child. They only care about money. I couldn't even pay the 8dol day pass for my son to play basketball with his friend's. I highly recommend ppl looking into THE NEW SPORTS COMPLEX. it is much cheaper, and they care about the kids vs the money. Also I did not appreciate the way my son and I were humiliated in front of ppl as we were told we could not be there. One would think a customer of 5 years would mean something. We are in hard times right now. I honestly never meant to not pay, we just didn't have the money. I came inside the ymca today with bank card, bank account number and routing number ready to set up weekly payments. THAT WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR MADISONVILLE YMCA. I ADVISE ALL OF YOU TO LOOK ELSE WHERE THIS PLACE ONLY CARES ABOUT THE MONEY. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR CHILDREN OR HOW THIS AFFECTS YOUR CHILDREN. I PRAY WE CAN GET A NEW SUPERVISOR / BOSS WHATEVER THAT CAN HELP FAMILIES LIKE MINE THAT ARE STRUGGLING RN.

They will not turn the AC on in the cardio room. It's 76 degrees and very humid. The rest of the building is comfortable. The one room that is most important to remain cool feels like a sauna.

I do not recommend using them for childcare. Take your child anywhere else but here. The director at one point stood outside to talk to every parent that pulled up, just to say that she was innocent about some allegations. I removed mine from here after my child came home with a busted lip. Their story about how it happened didn't add up. It's been a couple years, but I still wouldn't trust them.

Nice clean gym. Friendly staff. Downsides are… A lot of teens just hangout in the gym all day in the summer time making it pretty uncomfortable to workout. Also they charged me a $30 late fee on a $50 membership. A late fee over 50% of the membership is insane. Only stay here instead of another local gym because of the pool and the classes.
