I’m so shocked by the comments. I’ve read them prior to attending months ago and expected the worst. And I honestly got the complete opposite. I’ve had nothing but great experiences at this YMCA. At the sign up the older woman at the front desk was really nice and explained everything politely. Each day I go they warmly greet me when I arrive and when I leave. I’ve interacted with different people, older women, young women even a man at the front desk on different days. Each were nice and respectful. This place is well kept to be an older building. You can tell by the crowd of regulars visitors and members that this place was a prized place back in the day and they still try to keep that feel after all these years later. I wouldn’t let others experience persuade you, try it out for yourself.

(I recommend you READ THIS if you are going to this Gym on evening schedule). I have been a member of YMCA for several years in the past, in 2 different states. I recently renewed my membership but this thrusday night, I had the most dissapointing and disgusting experience ever at a YMCA location. I went there with my son, who just moved to the city, and we received the most rude, unprofessional and disrespectfull treatment that I have ever experienced from any personnel of this valuable institution. Despite what was informed to me at YMCA when I renewed the membership, and confirmed to my by a YMCA supervisor, the lady at the front desk stopped me at the entrance and talked to me in a VERY unpolite, rude, and even agressive manner. She did not let me talk and insisted that I had to pay IN ADVANCE for the month that I had until the 21 of NOVEMBER to pay, "you owe YMCA 34 dollars", she said, "YOU PAY NOW or you are not going to the gym tonigh". After I made this compulsive payment, she then tried to stop my son from using the gym, arguing that I did not have a familly membership, which I have. This lady was really rude, unpolite, and I think tried to humilate us with no reason. But waht I regreat the most is the negative impression that this very unprofessional attitude caused on my minor son, who is barely getting to know the city of Reading and does not want to comeback to YMCA now. I must say that I do not think -and I hope- that this attitude responds to the policies and standards of an institution as valuable as YMCA, specially towards inmigrants. But I do advise whoever read this, so they do know what to expect there, even in front of their children.

The front desk staff at the Y is very rude, unwelcoming, and disrespectful. Upper management certainly needs to observe their positions and make better future decisions when it comes to their staff and who represents the YMCA everywhere 💯

This gym is a total scam, I been going for a week and now they want me to buy again , When I went in to talk to someone, the lady at the front desk had the worst attitude super rude and unprofessional. Instead of helping me, she tried to sell me another membership like I was just going to forget they stole my money. Don’t waste your time or money here.

I came In earlier today to buy a membership and quickly felt the rude hospitality. My fault for not walking out sooner but the woman at the front desk was rude with quick responses and was not considerate of my time, so noticeably that the other woman worker in the back make a joke about how slow she was typing. Before leaving I decided that this place was not for people who wanted to be treated with respect and upon request of cancellation of my membership the woman rolled her eyes, sucked her teeth, and quickly said bye in a loud disrespectful tone. Do not even thing about this YMCA, you deserve better treatment.
