We LOVE the gymnastics programs at the East Y. We had tried the South YMCA and ended up pulling our kids out after just one class. Thank goodness for coach Elizabeth at the East location! Highly recommend!
Signs need to be posted in the locker rooms about people walking around in their birthday suit. If not comfortable to walk around your mother like don't walk around like that around strangers. I even saw a guy today walking out from the male locker room towards the swimming pool area in his tight boxers. Guess he didn't care that there could be kids in the pool area.
Beautiful facility with tons of fitness equipment, pool, child care etc. love all of the Life Fitness, Hammer Strength and Cybex cardio and strength equipment. Highly recommended for any one looking for a community to encourage them on their fitness and over all wellness journey.
The equipment is lacking. I am a regular at the North Y and they have brand new equipment in the past 6 months. I was last at the East Y in February and stopped in here for a quick workout and the machines are the same. If you want weights you are set but in terms of cardio you are out of luck as there is a poor supply and quantity. I doubt I will come back to this Y.
This branch has been my "home" gym for 20+ years. What makes it so great is that everybody who works there is open and welcoming to patrons. 2 years ago I was really overweight and needed to drop some weight and when I went back to this Y.M.C.A. Brian was working the front desk and said a warm hello like I hadn't missed a day. Not to mention, the support everyone gives while you're losing the weight. The strong sense of community is why I come back to this gym.
