What Parents Say
Wheeler Regional Family YMCA Infant Toddler Center in Plainville is highly regarded for its clean, well-maintained facilities and friendly staff. Parents praise the pools, fitness classes, and variety of programs available year-round. One concern raised involves limited open swim availability during peak family hours due to lesson scheduling.
This place is clean and well-organized. The staff are friendly and polite. The pool is great — the depth is just right for babies and young children. We really enjoy coming here.
As others have mentioned there is no availability for families, teens or children to use the pools after school or early evening, they take up all the pools with lessons up until like 7pm every day and much of the weekend. If you are joining in the hopes of using the pools forget it there are cheaper gyms to go to. They need to have open swim in the multiuse pool on weekdays for families to use more often after school/early evening. The rock wall is never open.
The facility is absolutely spotless. The classes are great and the staff is wonderful. The app is a nightmare. But the gym is top notch otherwise. And they are working on the technology issues they tell me.
Very nice YMCA. Newly renovated Sauna and Steam Room. Large rock wall and exercise rooms. Two pools with splash pad and large hot tub! The Subway Restaurant has since closed which was a huge perk for the kids after swim lessons. For now, there are no definitive plans for a replacement food vendor but I heard that Subway could make a return!
daniel at the front desk this afternoon was ridiculously rude and disrespectful to me as well as quite literally any other person who walked in today. came in to simply apply for a membership & there was constant mumbling under his breath, rolling his eyes, making snide comments after every phone call received or any question asked, and acting as if everyone who walked in was an absolute burden to him…as in him who signed himself up for said front desk job. everyone has bad days for sure, but to blatantly disrespect everyone who sees your face first thing when they walk through the door is insane. i chose this specific Y because of the good reviews, but for a first impression, daniel made quite the negative one! but hey one positive is hopefully i wont have to cross paths again with his horrible childish demeanor during my time there
