I grew up at Watts. They have very loving people. I'm honestly surprised that as accepting as culture has gotten over the years that I can't really find any churches where pastors are known for wild hair dye and helping others hear from the Holy Spirit and listening to His presence while drawing and helping others draw prophetic art and helping others get closer to the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the only Way to Heaven. I remember once having a dream about Watts Street where in the future the Old senior men's room had been torn down to make more room for new innovation. What was put in its place was this huge arcade where you could pay coins to play, however, that feature had been turned off so that the community could play for free. Just behind those walls was a place where children heard Bible stories and that place was pretty low tech on that side. One person in the dream who wasn't Christian was hanging out with a Christian friend and she was interested in the Bible stories. The dream taught me that when it comes to reaching others for Christ, Christians seem to have a "Come to church for the theology and stay for the community" mentality, but for a non-Christian finding his/her way to Christ then for them they seem to have more of a "Come to church for community and stay for the theology," mindset.
Our church home since 2000. Distinctive among Baptists as a progressive, inclusive, liturgical congregation. Emphasies include social justice, LGBTQ, local ministries, lectionary.
Watts St is such a great community the cares deeply about their city and neighbors.
I used to come here once a month for meetings
