What Parents Say
Verner Center for Early Learning in Asheville receives mostly positive reviews (6 five-star ratings) praising caring staff, nutritious meal programs, and supportive environment. However, two one-star reviews raise concerns about administrative practices, waitlist management, and ability to meet children with specific behavioral needs.
We’ve had such a wonderful experience at Verner! Our daughter started attending when she was 10 months old, and we’ve seen her absolutely thrive. The environment is inclusive, nurturing, and developmentally focused—exactly what we were hoping for in a daycare. The teachers are not only caring and knowledgeable, but they also keep us consistently informed about how our daughter is doing. That open communication gives us real peace of mind. One of the things I really appreciate is their “Rainbow in My Tummy” meal program. They introduce fresh fruits and vegetables into every meal and snack, which is amazing for building healthy habits early on. Verner truly goes above and beyond for families. When we unexpectedly needed a new car seat, they connected us with a local program and helped us get one for free. That kind of support means so much. We’re so grateful to be part of the Verner community. Highly recommend!
Verner Center for Early Learning is about one thing. Getting kids in at any cost. They have great, hard working teachers but the administration is sneaky and divisive. The white savior complex, is really just a mask for divisiveness and racism. The teachers are watched all day on cameras and they tout diversity and inclusion, but leave POC out of major decisions and make the staff feel othered. They don't look out for the next interests of the children or staff. Or their safety. I would not allow my children to attend here.
My child was placed at East after being in their Community Program - the teachers are the epitome of a village in not just education but comprehensive care of children. I loved seeing Administrators, Directors- people with offices spending time teaching and caring for the kids in classrooms, on the playgrounds and in the garden. Everyone is involved. I love my baby walking in and is greeted by name by what seems like everyone in the school. I can’t be grateful enough for the attention and concerns being brought to me about my child’s transition to a new school and any hiccups. If there is no one on the Verner team to address a need, they find one and connect you and follow up. All concerns are valid and I’ve never experienced pushback when I have concerns. I looked up the facility prior to enrolling my son and one thing I appreciated is the accountability. State citations/incidents were self reported by Verner themselves. I truly feel my child is well cared for and there is nothing more I can ask for than the support of their development into a happy healthy tiny human. Thank you!
My first child care experience here was absolutely terrible. Director hung up in my face when asked why my child who did very well at his play date was denied. After being highly recommended by his therapist I was informed they could not meet his behavior needs of not knowing how to share due to not being in a setting of having to share and screaming when mad highly upset this is how my very first day care experience went
One of the best childcare centers in the Asheville area, even more so now that AB Tech's five-star center closed down. They have some of the best and most knowledgeable staff, fantastic grounds and facilities, and they're in a very nice location. Only downside is the rather lengthy waiting list so plan ahead, and they tend to allow a lot of "string pulling" to bump waitlisted children.
