Had a total knee replacement surgery ,and all the staff was wonderful. Answered every question, made me comfortable as possible. My husband was notified and he was comfortable on the waiting area. I am a nurse and I love to see other excellent nurses taking care of patients. Excellent staff. Thank you for the good care. Surgical team

If I could give the G.I. unit 10 stars, I would. Absolutely everyone was a pleasure to deal with. They made what could’ve been a traumatic experience today, into an enjoyable experience somehow. From the intake secretary to the nurses to the doctor that they had from Presby was just an A+ all around. Please send them my kudos. This unit should be training on their staff members as an example on how to prioritize patient experience. L

If I could give ZERO stars I absolutely would this place is a walking disaster. I came in with excruciating pain to which they had and still have me waiting in the waiting room with NO help for over 5 hours. This place is an absolute joke. The nurses and staff are absolutely no help. I asked for more medication because what they gave me didn’t work and they said they couldn’t because they had no beds. They didn’t have beds when they first brought me in. They clearly don’t know what they’re doing. I will gladly pay out of pocket to go to AHN. Because I will NEVER come back here. I am left traumatized from my mistreatment here.

You deleted my previous review and also the other 6 people that complained about the same night. I lived in 3 countries 3 states and am a cancer survival. The worst hospital visit in my life!!!! You sure talk about being top notch. Lies!!! Don't go here unless you want to die alone in dirty room by yourself. Waiting for a insane amout of time. They don't even check your life sights for over 6 hours. Didn't take my blood pressure for 6 hours. I had problems breathing and had chest pains.

Made the mistake of telling my ambulance driver I would go to AHN or here. 1 minute closer so ended up here. Mistake. For starters, got moved to suicide watch for answering a question honestly but also stating I would never do or act on anything of that nature, by Bailey & staff. (Not sure who ultimately makes the decision). This changed my treatment and the way I was looked at immediately. I went from a nice clean bright room, here's your remote If you need anything let me know; to a dark dingy room by the nurses station with no light on, no TV, everything removed out of my room, etc. They took my shoes and hoodie. I sarcastically said do you want my belt too and she said Yeah I didn't know you had one on. While I was in this room the UPMC police pork chop one and pork chop two looked in my room maybe one time, Not one time each Just made eye contact with one guy. I also asked if I was free to leave if I wanted in I was told no so I guess they would 302 me if I decided to go to AHN. Spent the first few hours actually thinking about suicide after that, again would never do it but just to prove that they don't care about you and nobody's even watching you. My nurse switched from Bailey to Jillian. Jillian, I was there most of her shift didn't even realize she was my nurse. Never introduced herself, no bedside manner whatsoever. Ended up having appendicitis with no pain, not even what I went in for. Of course what I went for wasn't even looked at because they found that. Jillian comes in with my medication pre-surgery when I didn't even talk to anyone about surgery or what was going on with me. I refused the medication and asked to speak to surgery. They finally come talk to me and it seems like they needed to get their numbers up. They pushed beyond belief for me to try to get surgery. No idea how inflamed my appendix was because they don't let you see that at all. Decided to go to antibiotic route, in the week since the hospital I have seen two doctors both of which told me they do not think I needed my appendix removed whatsoever. The surgeons acted like me refusing my surgery, i would be on my death bed. After I finally got through to them that I was not doing the surgery the whole feel of it changed. It's not that bad, there's no other complications, antibiotics are promising, etc. I was here from 11:00 a.m. until like 8:30 p.m. apparently they don't serve any food here because I wasn't offered anything until I asked the social worker at noon And he got me a sandwich and some popcorn and a drink. Younger guy forget his name but he was better than any nurse or doctor I seen. After he left, nothing. CT scan guys were amazing. Don't recall ever having one and they made me comfortable and had me laughing. After I was taken off suicide watch still was offered no remote/call button. My bed was still not plugged in and I spent most of my day in the most uncomfortable position because nobody cared or checked. When the CT scan guy brought me back he plugged in my bed handed me the remote, etc. my 20 minute interaction with him was better than Jillian's whole shift. Also this place is a walking HIPAA violation. I can probably write a book with names on everybody that was in there that day. From every single person that needed a CT scan down to the power of attorney for somebody else. Also I noticed after my visit my health insurance wasn't submitted. Going to get a large bill for this ER visit that I am not paying a dime for, but apparently these people can't look up your health insurance if you don't have your card on you. Everyone else can figure it out just fine with my social. @upmc before you copy and paste the same response that you do to everybody on how you care about my care, service, and satisfaction... I know you don't and I don't care to hear it. I rather my appendix burst than ever step foot back in this hospital. Update: was billed about $21,000 for this visit. Expected to pay $2900 but hard pass. $362 for '1 hour' of the surgeon trying to talk me into surgery for 20 minutes. Crooks.
