UNIVERSITY EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION CTR receives mixed reviews ranging from 1-5 stars. Positive reviews praise skilled and caring teachers, engaging curriculum, and sensory activities, while negative reviews cite serious management issues including inadequate response to child safety concerns, lack of transparency with incident reports, poor hygiene practices, and significant price increases without service improvements.
As a first-time mom, I seriously considered staying home full-time because I was nervous about sending my baby to daycare. Purdue ECEC has the best infant room teachers—so loving, yet so skilled. They also have a wonderful curriculum and provide rich sensory learning activities that aren’t easy to do at home. I also appreciate how diligent they are about sanitizing throughout the day—my baby (3.5 months old) just finished his second week here and hasn’t gotten sick once! + His teachers send so many pictures throughout the day :-)
The daycare claims to be level 4. However, we were so fed up with the daycare management that I don't even believe that they deserve level 2. Our kid was constantly bitten at the daycare and despite complaining several times no action was taken. He was beaten a total of eight times, and these bite marks turned red and had scars and our kid was not happy. At first they said that they will change classes, however, after some days they say that nothing could be done. I understand that some children bite, but when complaints are just brushed aside its quite demoralizing. Most importantly, we wanted the copies of the incident report, and every time I they said that we have to collect it from the main office, and we only got it one or two times. The teachers always say that they will make a copy for us and ultimately we never got it. On top of this, last August, they increased their prices by 18%. When we asked them what is the price increase for, as such, a big price increase must be commensurate with some improvement in quality of service, since it way exceeds inflation and the yearly increment of our family income. Their answer was its supply and demand. If we can't afford it, we can leave. On top of that, they stopped the school age children class, which means that we cannot send our other kid there anymore for summers. Additionally, there are complaints about raw meat being served, which I hear some parents are trying to bring up with the Purdue University Management. All in all, we were unhappy. I give them two stars, instead of one star, because teachers seemed to care. Some times the teachers basically told us to bypass the management and talk to them directly if we have some concerns. We appreciated. While teachers were good, unless something is done about their management, I would not recommend.
I’m very disappointed with our experience at this daycare. One example that really concerned me was during nap time—when I came to pick up my daughter, I found her cot placed between the trash can and the sink. It felt careless and unhygienic. Unfortunately, this was just one of several issues we experienced. I’m honestly relieved we’re done with this daycare, and I would not recommend it to other families.
Beware of this company they do not care about the children in their care, or their teachers, avoid sending your child and choose a more child-focused LOCAL school. You will regret joining this place.
My kids really enjoys the time in the school!
