Turning Sun School Clairmont

Turning Sun School Clairmont is the most wonderful school for young children. Everyone is kind and caring, and I love their Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, which allows every child to shine and be loved for who they are. The school is so welcoming to families of all kinds, and I recommend it highly!

My daughter has been at this school for two years and I could not be more impressed. This is a school were she is growing in confidence, developing as a young student and embedding a love of learning. The staff body is caring, diverse and open to all families. I would highly recommend.

We loved the ideas and philosophy at Turning Sun but they didn’t life into the ideals. Cons 1. I only got one email newletter a week, no other photos or updates. My child literally went into a black hole - could be just the teacher we had 2. I thought the outdoor areas would be available for all ages, but the littles were stuck in this one very unnatural area that’s smaller than my living room. 3. They would take the littles for walks through the parking lot, not the nature trails **4. they hired our nanny and told her she could take our son home after school, and then after she was hired they backtracked. Then we were out of care from 3:30-5 while working, and did not offer to work with us at all (maybe giving a week or two to help?) - total my way or highway situation with Brooke. Delivery was cold, empathy entirely missing, we even gave our nanny a recommendation via phone before they hired her. We had to find an alternative school with zero notice** 5. school day hours only 6. I volunteered the first time hoping I was volunteering with my son (I was sooo excited to see his face light up when he saw me) then found out he wasn’t going to be there in my time period of volunteering. They were unwilling to move my volunteer time. pros 1. Great ideas and philosophy (not executed well) 2. nice garden 3. fun drum circle events 4. food provided advice: make sure to ask what areas are specifically available to the age of your child attending

Amazing place for kids to grow. Staff is always helpful and friendly. The owner goes above and beyond and the food program is fantastic. The kids spend a lot of time out in nature
