What Parents Say
Trinity AME Early Learning Center receives mixed reviews with ratings ranging from 1-5 stars. While some parents praise individual teachers and the curriculum, others report concerns about cleanliness, staff attitudes, inconsistent care quality, administrative handling of disputes, and lack of accountability for teacher misconduct.
I am writing this review because I was reminded of this place today because someone inquired about sending their child here. I feel like I need to finally share now. My child has not been enrolled here in awhile, but the 3 stars are for his teacher who I was disappointed that she had to be moved. She was amazing and she kept me up to date on his day(the others had attitudes which I will mention later). I liked the system of using a finger print to sign in and out, and they are good with sending communication through ProCare about announcements. However it ends there. What I didn't like is the fact that the classroom is not really clean. Several of my child's clothing items were missing too which upset me because they were confusing my child with another child. Also right before I pulled my child from here, I over heard 2 teachers talking about a child and referenced the fact that he cries all the time and it got on their nerves. Why would you work at daycare with small children if crying bothers you? I had to keep my composure because that same day I had an issue with my child's feeding. They hire young women who also have their children here. I do not think some have CDA credentials and they aren't really friendly. My child attends a licensed in home provider now and it was the best decision for my family.
I recently had an interaction with Ms. Merritt at Trinity AME Early Learning Center and was initially pleased with her customer service and the information she provided as the director. Our conversation, which included speaking about how good God is, was encouraging. As a single mom, it was important to me to find the right place for me and my son, who just turned 2 on April 6. This would have been a new experience for me and my son. The visit on July 31, 2024, during the open house was great. Me and my son had the chance to meet the teacher Ms. Kayla E. and ask appropriate questions. I even shared how I teach my son to fist bump instead of high fives, demonstrating with, “Pound me up, son.” However, my experience took a turn when I informed them of my financial difficulties, as my 13-year-old just went back to school and my bills are piling up. I understood the requirement to pay the weekly fee of $165 by August 6, 2024 as the daycare does not do daily payments the child is enrolled it’s $165.00 weekly if the child is present or not, but I couldn’t make the payment until Friday. Despite my willingness to communicate with Ms. Merritt and pay by Friday, I was informed my son would have to be removed as there were others waiting. I understood as she’s only doing her job. I asked to speak with the executive director, Mr. Ford, who initially seemed understanding upon my arrival. I explained the situation and he seemed as if he was willing to allow me to pay by Friday and for my son to start on Monday he just needed to speak with Ms. Merritt. However, when he contacted me back via phone, he questioned if I would be happy there, referencing my comments about cleanliness of the sleeping cots and our fist bump practice. Shocked and disappointed, I needed a moment in which he was allowing me to give him an answer on if I wanted to continue at center or not by Tuesday 8/6/24. I tried to send a message on the Procare app only to find my son had already been unenrolled and I no longer had access to the Procare portal. I also tried to email and it’s stuck in my outbox, as if it was blocked. It’s disheartening that a daycare attached to a church would handle the situation this way. While I thank God for the sign that this place may not be the right fit for my son, I hope this review helps other parents in their decision-making. **Attached you will see the email how it’s still sending and I sent this at 5PM and the app how I no longer have access but had access at 7 this morning. I am thankful for my gut feeling when Mr. Ford made it seem as if my feedback was viewed as problematic and that my concerns as a parent was not welcome. I think any parent comfort and trust in a daycare is crucial the Quality childcare even provides questions to ask and first impressions to look for etc. however I wish the daycare continued success to other parents.
I hesitated to put my son in Trinity Ame Early Learning Center because he didn’t qualify for the prek program and also because they said his spot couldn’t be held for daycare if he’s going to back and fourth from Indy. This lady looked me dead in my face and said she recommend me pay the fee to hold his spot just in case I couldn’t find a program and if it didn’t work out I could be refunded. I called in today about my refund and they told me that they don’t do refunds ! Now I’m ready to show my ssa because that’s stealing ! I literally would have never paid because I was unsure ! Very unprofessional.
I highly recommend this daycare. My grandson went to this daycare 12 years ago and now my granddaughter is there with only one more year to go but I have a newborn grandson who is starting in a few weeks. I travel over one hour to this daycare because they are excellent. They teach and take such good care of the little ones.
My son attended this school when he was one year old. He was blessed with the best teachers Ms. Larry and Ms. Teneshia. This is really my first time dealing with a daycare in general. The two of them put my mind at ease. They made this whole daycare experience a fairy tale. I never thought I could trust two stranger with my child. But we bonded as if they was my own family. The nightmare for me started when my child turned 3. He was then transferred to Ms. Dixon. I could tell that he was learning in her class but what I didn't like was that she push my child to the ground causing him to hit his head. The crazy part was that it never showed on the daycare cameras, but only on a phone that a parent recorded while being in the classroom. The administration did not do anything to the teacher. They so call said she was on leave without pay , but then they said she was out due to surgery. I requested that my child be assigned to another class and teacher. He was then transferred to Ms. McGraw class. This was the WORST teacher I have ever came across. Some teacher have a passion for kids and some are there for a check. She was just there for a check. She also neglected my son and a child bit him on his side. Then call me fake crying. Only because she knew she would be getting in trouble. Her attitude is something awful. She has a very fake attitude. I pick up in vibes . My husband and I had many meetings because of her. I know that my child is active, but there is still a way he should be dealt with. It almost as if , she wanted to put her hands on my son. After so many phone call, I finally decide to remove my son from this daycare. I really appreciate Pastor C for all her hard work. She is truly an angel. She tried her best to reconcile the whole situation. But it takes a team. And at that point I no longer trust that daycare. Ms. Diamond is also an angel too. She is on top of things when it comes to administration. She really deserve to be the head person in charge. Rev Uday and Ms. Bengum was really as unhelpful, fake, and unresponsive as an administrative personnel. They didn't follow up on anything and allowed teachers to do whatever to whomever with no recourse. Ms. Diamond was very good about following up with things and taking care of business. I will miss her. If I had to rate this daycare it would be less than 1 star. Ms. Larry, Ms. Teneshia, Ms. Diamond and Pastor C all deserve 5 stars. These women are truly a blessing.
