Torrey Pines Montessori Center

TPMC is such a great preschool. Our daughter went there from 2-4 years of age. She (and us!) loved the teachers. Mr. Hardeep and his team really prepare kids well for school. They take extra efforts to ensure that by the time kids graduate to kindergarten, they can read and do basic math that is well above the kindergarten level. At the same time, they provide a fun and nurturing environment for kids.

If you are in search of a preschool for your little one, I highly recommend Torrey Pines Montessori Preschool. My daughter has been attending since she was 2, and she eagerly anticipates each school day. In fact, she even complains when I arrive to pick her up too early! The teachers at the school are patient and caring. They are very skilled in fostering independence and creating numerous opportunities for developing sharing and other essential social skills. I really like their curriculum, which places emphasis on reading and math. They also incorporate daily lessons in Spanish and sign language. I believe my daughter really benefits from the smaller class sizes and the structured daily routine. It’s truly exciting to see her enthusiasm for learning flourish in this environment. The student-teacher ratio is always outstanding, and there are currently plenty of open slots due to recent graduations. I wholeheartedly endorse this school.

We would highly recommend TPMC to anyone looking for a high quality, family run, academically oriented, & caring preschool for their children. Both of our children attended Torrey Pines Montessori Center from ages 2.5 until starting kindergarten, and we were incredibly happy with the early education they received. It’s a Montessori-based preschool with an emphasis on reading, writing, and math. There is good organization to the day that balances academics & play. Both of my girls were doing work at a 1st grade+ level by the time they left the school to enter kindergarten. The class sizes are small and the teachers are very attentive. TPMC also nurtures a caring and fun environment that encourages play and creativity among the children. Both of mine made great friendships that they still maintain today.

It’s hard to give a universal review that applies to all children since each child is different and has their own challenges. However, our older son has been at TPMC since fall 2022 and I can’t imagine any place better than this. My son loves going to school there and has developed close friendships with his classmates there. This is a major contrast to his previous daycare, which he did not enjoy at all. TPMC is a small school run by the same family for many years in a pretty location, only a few minutes from Torrey Pines beach. The class sizes are small, and it has a cozy, close-knit feel. The teachers genuinely care about each child, and give individual time to develop them. If I had to choose one word, it would be “balance”. The environment is supportive and nurturing, yet has enough strictness to keep the classes structured and orderly. The kids have fun and have plenty of time to play, but this is balanced with a focus on learning and education, and time spent on math, reading, writing and art. Overall, we are very happy to have found this place for our older son, and now plan to enroll our younger son here soon. Of course, he has his own challenges but we are are very hopeful that our positive experiences with our older one will carry over to our youngest!

My 3-year-old daughter goes to Torrey Pine Montessori since Jan 2023. It's relatively small class size with more care and attention for each kid, and it seems less likely to get sick than big centers. Teachers communicate well with parents during drop off/pick up, and also through text msg. My daughter likes teachers a lot, there were times we were on vacation and missed classes, she kept saying she miss her teachers at Torrey Pines. Tuition is also very reasonable.
