I went to TSB from 2015 - 2024. I'm going to be brutally honest in this review because I'm sure anybody who is thinking about sending their child there would want an honest review from a reliable source. I also want to say, for the record, that this review has input from other people who were former students at TSB. The teachers at the school are very nice people. They only want what's best for you and are very genuine and caring people. The people who work in the cottage, on the other hand, are a completely different story. While SOME of them are good people, the other ones are rude, arrogant, narcissistic and would constantly belittle mine and my friends' intelligence. When there was bullying or any student altercations, it was very rare for them to hear both sides. Usually, they would just take the side of the person who reported someone for something. Most counties in Tennessee (especially the really big counties like Knox, Shelby and Hamilton) have the resources to accommodate blind and visually impaired people. So to put it simply, if your child has more than just visual impairments, sending them to TSB isn't a bad idea, and/or if you live in the surrounding counties of Nashville. But if that's not you, you're better off just going to your local elementary, middle, or high school.

My daughter is a new student this year. We have experienced wonderful staff who show a genuine investment in my child as a whole. Having just that alone boost my hopes for my daughter's future. There is definitely a sense of strong connection to not only help her be academically successful but to build her confidence and independence also. I'm so beyond grateful for her to be given a opportunity to join the TSB family and I can't wait for her years to come!!!! I would definitely recommend this school to ALL families in Tennessee who have children that could greatly benefit from their great programs!!

Well I would start by Saying there are a lot of messiness in that bunch starting with the head of the school down to some students my child has had problems with the teachers violating her personal space and lying bout it other students getting to be a bully to my child but a victim for the ppl who runs the office n I tried to. Have a meeting with the school and the parents of the so called child n they refused so my next step will be contacting the State and go from there

Went to school here 20 years ago. I go back from time to time. The school looks great. It's very up to date. Of course I couldn't tell you much about the staff as most of them I knew retired.

I went to the school from 2012-2016. They didn't treat us like humans. We had no choice in what we could or could do. The house parents and admins mistreated the students and gaslighted us. Do not take your kids to the school.
