Thomas B. Hargrave Educational Center

My kids have been at Thomas B Hargrave for about a year and hands down the best I’ve ever had! Staff is extremely professional, kind, and great with the kids. Very safe environment as well. They go far and above for the service and our family. My children attend before and after school, they come home and tell me about the activities they do and everything they have learned. Ms Joy keeps up with making sure rules and regulations are followed as needed by state law (which is huge for me). She is also highly involved with the children and her staff there. The educational center gets 5 stars from me!

If I could leave more than a 5 star review I would! They are amazing here. the Staff are very good at their job. Ms. Joy is amazing and my daughter absolutely adores her. They're very affordable, provide meals, and have a good curriculum for the kids. I couldn't be more impressed with them!

Ms. Joy is amazing we double team potty training my little and got it accomplished a month-and half before my deadline. You can see the love that she has for the children. All the staff are great and works together to get the job done. My little use to throw a fit when pulling up to her old daycare. Not now. She can’t wait to go ring the doorbell. Good well done!!

This daycare is one of the best daycares in the 757. They're patient with kids, all staff are hands on with teaching different things. My son came home with something new that he learned everyday. Literally the only daycare that he wouldn't cry when getting dropped off(after getting comfortable of course, which didn't take long) because he was excited for what they had to do each day.There are female and male role models for the kids which I admire! And they also update you with almost every single thing your child does during the day including pictures... They definitely lift weight off my shoulders of worrying if my child is safe and learning!

I cannot express enough how thrilled I am with the TBH Educational Center at the Community Presbyterian Church in Portsmouth! This preschool has been an absolute blessing for my child's early education journey. From the moment we stepped foot into the center, we felt welcomed and valued as part of their nurturing community. First and foremost, I must commend the director, Ms. Joy. Her passion for early childhood education is evident in every aspect of the center. Ms. Joy's warm and caring demeanor creates a loving and supportive environment for all the children. She goes above and beyond to ensure that each child's individual needs are met, and her dedication to their growth and development is truly commendable. As a parent, it's incredibly reassuring to know that our child is in the hands of someone as compassionate and competent as Ms. Joy. Mr. Jordan, one of the staff members, also deserves special recognition. His playful and engaging teaching style has captivated my child's curiosity and instilled in them a love for learning. Mr. Jordan's creativity and patience have made every day at the center an exciting adventure for my little one. I can tell that he genuinely cares for each child and is always ready to lend a helping hand. The educational programs at TBH are outstanding. They strike the perfect balance between fun and learning, ensuring that the children are engaged while developing essential skills. My child comes home every day excited to share the new things they've learned, and I am amazed at their progress. The facilities are top-notch, providing a safe and stimulating environment for the kids to explore and play. The center is always impeccably clean, and safety measures are clearly a top priority. Furthermore, the communication between the staff and parents is exceptional. Ms. Joy and her team keep us informed about our child's progress and any upcoming events, which is greatly appreciated. I cannot thank the TBH Educational Center enough for all they do for the children and families in their care. It's evident that everyone involved is genuinely passionate about providing the best possible early education experience.
