What Parents Say
The Maggy Haves School receives unanimous 5-star reviews from parents who praise the nurturing, play-based curriculum and exceptional staff leadership. Parents highlight the school's strong focus on social-emotional development, child-led learning, and sense of community. Multiple families report their children transitioned well to kindergarten with strong academic and emotional readiness.
Our family has had the most wonderful experience at Maggy Haves. The staff is truly exceptional. Thoughtful, patient, and deeply invested not just in the children, but in the families as a whole. A special shout-out to Christie, the director, who takes such incredible care with each family. She has a rare ability to make everyone feel seen and genuinely valued. We feel so grateful to be part of this community and cannot recommend Maggy Haves highly enough. It is a truly special place.
We've been part of the Maggy Haves School community for the past four years, and I truly can't say enough good things about our experience. From day one, it was clear that this was a special place — one that prioritizes not just early childhood education, but the whole child. The teachers are incredibly thoughtful, nurturing, and deeply invested in each child's development. It's a play-based program, which has been such a gift — my son and daughter have learned through joy, exploration, and creativity. But what really stands out is the emphasis on social-emotional growth. The school does a wonderful job of helping kids learn how to be part of a community, navigate relationships, and develop empathy and communication skills — including how to speak up for themselves, which was something my son had a hard time doing before Maggy Haves. My son has since moved on to a more academic kindergarten, and it's clear how well prepared he is — not just academically, but emotionally and socially. He brings with him the confidence, self-awareness, and sense of belonging that Maggy Haves helped foster from the very beginning. There is something really special about Maggy Haves, and we feel so lucky to be part of it.
We absolutely love Maggy Haves! When our daughter was a toddler, we looked at dozens of preschools from Sherman Oaks to Burbank, and found that of all the play-based schools, MHS was the very best in child-led experiential play, an evolving sense of identity within a larger community, and social emotional learning. The teachers are all fantastic, loving and knowledgeable, the director (previously a parent and teacher there herself) is hands-on and has a wealth of info about childhood development, and they have an enormous play yard with lots of water play, climbing structures, and chickens and a tortoise to love and care for. The kids come home happy with plenty of stories and new songs, and covered in paint and dirt, which we take as markers of the ideal day of nursery school play. And now that our daughter is moving on to kindergarten and our son is about to start his first year in the Circle Room, I am just so grateful to have found this uniquely special community at Maggy Haves when we did.
Maggy Haves is a wonderful school where both of my very different children thrived. The director and teachers are loving, nurturing, and do such a great job guiding children to use their voices and develop independence. This school has not only been great for my kids but it has also taught me so much as a parent. Highly recommend.
Cannot recommend this preschool enough! What a beautiful yard, wonderful and caring teachers and staff and most importantly a great teaching philosophy where my son feels heard, seen, and respected!
