I wanted to leave a review to express how much this school has meant to our family. I have a daughter that went through Lindgren and now my son is in his last year and it has truly been a foundational part of their childhood, in the way it was for my husband when he went to Lindgren 40 years ago. That timeless embrace of childhood is what really resonated with me. I wanted to give my children the opportunity to experience childhood in a way that is pure and full of exploration and imagination in a world that seems to be trending away from the simpler things. My daughter found a passion for nature, art and creative expression and I owe that to the incredible work of the teachers. She began very timid and shy during Covid and by the time she left she felt like she had such a safe space in the school with all the teachers and camp counselors, she still covets any time she has on campus. And it has created a community of families and support that we couldn't be more grateful for. Our son has also grown so much here, the outdoor play alone has leant to so much independence! He feels masterful and proud of all his creations and the staff really nurtures each student where they are in such a easy way, that it lends to the magic of the place. The teachers have really "seen" my children for who they are and met them in the ways they needed most. They know when to encourage their independence, engage them to be adventurous, nurture them in the hard times and build upon that trust day in and day out. Needless to say it has had a profound impact on all our lives and I am so grateful for this magical bubble where childhood protected and expanded upon. Thank you to all the staff for all that you do to create such a safe space for our whole family and the community we have created as a result.

We feel incredibly lucky to have found Lindgren! It is truly a magical place, and one that has had such a positive impact on our son and our family. What sets this school apart is its deep respect for childhood. The children spend time outdoors every single day, no matter the weather, which we absolutely loved. There are multiple outdoor spaces to explore, and the presence of animals - chickens, goats, and even a pony - adds such a special, joyful dimension to daily life at the school. Our child came home with muddy shoes, rosy cheeks, and a full heart, which felt exactly right. The play-based approach to learning is thoughtful and intentional. Through play, curiosity, and exploration, the children are learning constantly without ever feeling pressured. The teachers are kind, patient, and genuinely caring. They see each child as an individual and create an environment where children feel safe, valued, and free to be themselves. The school is also extremely well run. Communication is clear, the program is organized, and it is evident that a great deal of care goes into every aspect of the school day. We also had the pleasure of participating in the summer camp, which was equally wonderful. It carried the same warmth, creativity, outdoor focus, and sense of joy that defines the school year, and our child looked forward to going every day. Lindgren is a rare gem, one that honors play, nature, kindness, and childhood in the most beautiful way. We could not recommend it more highly.

Our family’s experience with Lindgren’s has been nothing but wonderful. Our child attended the preschool for 3 years and still attends the summer camp. She has loved every minute of her time there. The school is true to its mission of child-centered, outdoor education. Children are allowed to run, play, and breathe free on the beautiful outdoor campus in a way that is all too rare in our fast paced, technologically driven world. The teachers are loving, caring, and skilled at their work, and they pour their hearts into the job. After 80 years, Lindgren’s stands as a true gem, a place fully committed to nurturing the body, mind, and spirit of each child. Thank you, Lindgren’s!

Some of my earliest memories are looking up at the majestic climbing trees at Lindgren. I was lucky enough to attend in the 1980s, and even then I knew I wanted my children to grow up with the same kind of warmly held, lifelong memories. Now my son is in his third year at Lindgren, and my daughter has just graduated. Time passes in the blink of an eye, but some things—like Lindgren—feel beautifully constant. The school I knew more than 40 years ago remains a true bastion of openness, love, respect, and freedom. The teachers and staff are among the most genuinely good people I’ve ever met, and the grounds are the definition of a child’s dream: rolling dunes of sand, winding bike paths, and classrooms that feel both well cared for and timeless—contemporary, yet unmistakably Lindgren. What has meant the most to me, though, is the confidence Lindgren instills in its students. Being free to be yourself, to play wholeheartedly, and to explore—while knowing someone who loves you is nearby—awakens a sense of wonder that stays with you. I see that every day in both of my kids. They’re curious, open, and eager to try new things. They move through the world with quiet self-reliance—confident, resilient, and comfortable being who they are. There is only one Lindgren, and there is no other place I would choose for my family to experience these formative preschool years.

Lindgren has been one of the most meaningful choices our family has made for our children. We’ve sent two kids there, and the experience has been nothing short of extraordinary. Our two-year-old is currently enrolled and loves school—he’s genuinely excited to see his teachers, his friends, visit the animals, and head out hiking in the nature center. Knowing your toddler feels safe, confident, and joyful in an environment outside of home is priceless. Our seven-year-old daughter attended Lindgren for three years, and the contrast to her previous school was immediate and profound. Before Lindgren, she struggled with severe separation anxiety and cried every single day at drop-off. On her very first day at Lindgren, she walked into the classroom, didn’t look back at us once, and happily went to school every day after that. We still thank our stars for Teacher Joann for immediately creating a safe and loving place for our daughter. All of the teachers at Lindgren are absolutely incredible and true partners in guiding both us as parents and our children! I can confidently say our children are better humans and better equipped for life with the curiosity, problem solving, social skills, and independence fostered at Lindgren. Beyond the children’s experience, Lindgren has made us feel like part of something special. The ethos of the school, the thoughtfulness of the teachers, and the deep sense of community are real and lived—not just words on a website. We’ve made lifelong friends with other families, as well as teachers and staff, and have felt consistently welcomed, supported, and known. Lindgren isn’t just a school; it’s a community that shows up for its kids and its families. We’re endlessly grateful to be part of it.
