What Parents Say
Parents consistently praise The Learning Experience in Milford for excellent staff care, strong communication through the app, and creating a nurturing environment where children are happy and engaged. Multiple reviewers highlight the cleanliness, curriculum quality, and flexibility in scheduling. Leadership, particularly director Pam, receives special recognition for maintaining consistency and addressing parent concerns.
My two daughters attend TLE Milford in the infant and preschool programs. The teachers have been great about communicating and caring for the girls! My youngest is in the infant room and it can be nerve wracking leaving your little one with someone new. All of the teachers have been so kind and loving and I appreciate that we get updates in the app. Seeing their pictures is such a nice way to feel included in their moments throughout the day! The preschool program has been great - my oldest comes home with something new everyday that she has learned that day. I can’t say enough nice things!
I just have to start off by saying this school is absolutely incredible! Regardless of the fact many directors have been in and out of there Pam has done an incredible job at keeping everything in order. The communication through the teachers is also amazing. I’ve had a couple times where my daughter has gotten a little too crazy and has either bit her tongue or hit her head and they’ve called me right away just to see if I wanted to pick her up. My daughter has been neglected in Previous Schools. Kindercare and precious ones Kindercare is in Milford and precious ones is in Whitesville and I’ve explained to them my worries is coming into another school and Again specifically Pam has done an amazing job reassuring me. I have not had a single issue with this school and my daughter has been going here for about a year and a half now. I recommend the school to everybody who is having a child or has a child I told them to switch. The staff is amazing all friendly and it seems like all of the kids love them which is amazing. It’s also really nice that there is teacher consistency there as well rather than some teachers working there one week and then they don’t because that can affect the children as well. I really don’t know what this school would do without Pam she is the glue that holds it together
TLE Milford was sold to us as being on the forefront of daycare, but unfortunately it falls short of the premium price point. The only reason I am not giving this center 1 star is because of the amazing staff of teachers that interacted with my son on a day to day basis. The teachers that my son was lucky enough to have were the only reason that we decided to stay at the center for as long as we did - they genuinely cared about my son's development, well being and happiness. This review does not reflect any of the teachers at this center. Unfortunately, the corporate aspect of this chain daycare shines through when it comes to basically every other interaction we had. From the app being mostly just advertisement to spend even more money on their merchandise, to the lack of communication. TLE will sell you on the fact that it is run like a structured school - multiple rooms that have different age brackets for children. While it looked good from the outside I quickly came to realize that this structure rarely ever held up. On multiple occasions, we could not drop our son off in his actual classroom due to it being full or the center being understaffed. Some days he would eventually end up in his classroom, other days he would spend the entire day with another group of children, most of the time younger than him. While it may not seem like a big deal, it is a bit scary some days to drop him off with a teacher that you have never met, then go to pick him up and be told that they "think" he is in another room, only for you to go check and the room to be empty. There is a slight panic that creeps in having to search for your child when you are told he is one place, but nobody is there. Other days, we would go to pick him up and be met by a teacher we have never seen before. We ask how his day was and the answer would typically be "Well he just got to this room but great for the last 10 minutes." I also need to question the cleanliness of the center. I understand kids get sick, especially in the winter months, but instead of informing us on their app about any potential illnesses, we would be greeted with a note taped to the door saying that norovirus, strep, flu, or hand foot or mouth were going around. Last summer, my son contracted HFM three times in a two month span from TLE - spreading it throughout our household and keeping him out of daycare for almost the entire month of July. Finally, there was one week where were informed that the center needed to be closed due to a small fire breaking out after hours (I believe in the boiler room). Later that evening, we were sent a message reminding us that per our agreement we should not expect any sort of compensation or reimbursement for the days that the center would be closed and were told that if we needed child care we could request access to a different TLE two towns over, but we needed to reply within about an hour and a half. In my opinion, this is absolutely unacceptable. In the end, my son did develop and I believe he benefited from attending TLE, but I can not in good faith recommend this center to anyone looking for child care in the Milford area. Again, I want to stress that the teachers at this center are amazing and really did care about my child. When it came time to put our second son in daycare we decided to move to a new center and not subject him, or us, to any more stress caused by TLE Milford. Everyone has different experiences, and I usually don't leave reviews, but I felt the need to share my family's experience since this is a massive financial decision (upwards of 50K per year for two children full time, and come each September expect an email saying rates are rising) and I wish I knew all of this before we spent over a year at TLE. Before we left, they were offering some type of incentive to rate them five stars on google to receive money off the next month, so take the 5 star ratings with a grain of salt. I have hit the character limit for this review, but trust me when I say I can go on and on.
We started off loving TLE. And none of the below is an indictment on any individual teacher. Kim, Christy, Amanda, Trish, and more were absolutely wonderful. Our kids loved their teachers, and the staff all seem to genuinely love working with those kids. There were hiccups, communication between admin and teachers was lacking, and transitions between rooms left a bit to be desired as everyone thought someone else have us the relevant information--for example, they start providing food in the Twaddler rooms, and they need shoes. None of which was communicated to us until after a month in that room. Then our second child started, and again, some of the same issues--told a child would be in one room, that teacher says they're in another, that classroom is empty, until I find my child out on the playground. They weren't unsupervised, they didn't wander off, but it's a bit of panic when two staff members are telling you they don't know where your child is. These things are small. But they built up. Finally, after 3.5 years, we got to the point that on two separate occasions, one child's diapers were changed 1-2x in a 10 hour period, however no one could explain how or why. Even speaking to the director, we were blamed for providing unapproved diapers. (Never been provided info on not being able to use ours) Every time I picked up my two children, the teachers were unable to tell me anything about their day. The answer was always, "I don't know, I just came in." Or "I wasn't in here today." Several times two or three kiddos in the prek class came to tell me about a physical altercation involving my child, and the teachers couldn't give me any information about their day. Were the kids making up stories? Did my kid actually hit another? No info. One staff member (who now left) said they weren't permitted to tell parents about any negative behavior problems. Another said they were out of ratio sometimes. Another asked me to report any infractions to the state--anything I could. I had the diaper issue escalated to the regional director. Who called me, promised to investigate and call back, and never did. Despite three follow up attempts from myself and the admin team. They've gone through multiple directors in 3.5 years. There's perfectly good reasons why that could occur, but it leads to confusion about what their policies actually are.
