What Parents Say
The Global Child receives mixed reviews with significant operational and safety concerns. While some parents praise staff and care quality, multiple recent reviews detail serious issues including poor hygiene practices, lack of communication, employee turnover, and safety incidents that prompted Health Department involvement.
This place is a MESS!!! They have had some really great caretakers, but TGC is definitely a revolving door for their employees. We pulled our daughter after two weeks of them not offering her water bottle and coming home with all of her food untouched. And she also came home with a black and blue egg on her head one day that was not addressed at pick up. They closed the ledyard facility with less than two weeks of notice to their customers via a message in the Procare app. No email, no phone call… Also, just weeks before they closed, the owner had problems PAYING HER EMPLOYEES ON TIME. On Labor Day weekend, one of the employees was surprised when I told her that I hoped she had a wonderful paid holiday, as if she does not in fact get paid(despite the fact they charge the families for those days even though the centers are closed). I know that the employees were doing the best with what they had, but for the short time our daughter was there, we were extremely disappointed. I would not recommend this company or any of its facilities. We were fortunate enough to find alternative childcare, but I know others were not as lucky as wait times for other facilities in our area (that are not owned by Ginny) are SUPER long.
Great experience with all the teachers at The Global Child. With infant triplets, safety and cleanliness are important and they have delivered. We appreciate all the care and support. Would recommend for any family looking for childcare in the area.
Since returning to The Global Child - Stonington in fall of 2021 we have experienced a variety of significant issues and concerns including many miscommunications, a complete lack of communication, inability to provide a proper/official breakdown of payments made and applied towards the balance due after 6 months of requesting this, lack of follow through on solutions, and some of our requests/concerns have been completely ignored. In addition to all of that, the final breaking point came from the fact that we sent a lengthy email to the Owner/CEO of The Global Child Virginia "Ginny" Brown three weeks ago to address several important concerns of ours that were not being address, and we have not received a response. We also sent an email to the owner, regional director, and site director, communicating that we are withdrawing our child from The Global Child and have not received a response from that either. Because of the lack of communication, we continue to find out about ongoing issues and/or incidents days or weeks after they happen. They do not follow through with agreed upon solutions. Changes are made without notice and/or communication in some instances. Our child has been sent home with the wrong size diapers and in soiled diapers which has resulted in a number of rashes. Our child has Birth To Three visit the daycare regularly, and they witnessed our child find a bucket filled with mouse droppings. The teacher did not fully sanitize the area, and cleaned with a sponge only, then left the bucket and sponge in the sink where children could still reach it. The Birth to Three rep stated that they needed to inform the Site Director and perform a deep clean of the area/room, to which the teacher shrugged it off and went back to what she was doing. The area/surface where diaper changes are performed is not wiped down/sanitized after each diaper change. Birth To Three has filed a report with the Health Department regarding these and other unsanitary incidents witnessed. The concerns, lack of communication, and lack of follow through on solutions are simply unacceptable from a daycare/childcare facility that is responsible for the wellbeing and education of children. We highly recommend you DO NOT bring your child to The Global Child. We recommend going to a Non-Profit, State Accredited Center where requirements and standards are much higher, and actually met.
My daughter basically grew up here. It's like a second home for her. Great staff. Family oriented. I'm very glad we chose TGC.
Great place and staff. Love it
