What Parents Say
The Children's Village is a residential facility in Dobbs Ferry with a long history spanning decades. Alumni reviews are overwhelmingly positive, with former residents citing transformative experiences, supportive staff, educational opportunities, and lasting positive life outcomes.
Many staff appear undertrained. The website lists programs and services that suggest robust supports. Yet, in practice, these supports are inconsistent, difficult to access, or simply unavailable when needed. Youth are sometimes discharged quickly to homes they don’t feel safe returning to so that they can free up beds rather than ensure safety or stability. The shelter provides very limited support for homeless youth given the high need in the area. While the mission is important, the reality falls short, and improvements in staff training, program accessibility, and safe discharge practices are urgently needed.
I was a resident there in the late 80's..... That place was pure hell for me..... I couldn't walk to and from school without being attacked, everything I owned was stolen, they tried to get me taken away from my parents.... And just about every one of us who where there has had their shoulders dislocated due to restraint techniques that are reserved for violent adults, not kids from 8 to 12..... I hope to God it's gotten better.... I really do.... Brookside was my cottage....
Children's Village were the best years of my childhood. I wished I had aged out of that program, I loved it
While NYC mayor Adams was busy defrauding New Yorkers, here we have a prime example of potential child trafficking. There are few things that could be more important than an official tracking down every single one of the children who came through this place and ensuring their safety and well being. I hope all of you New York democrats are happy because this is what thrives under your policy. Make no mistake people just look at the demeanor of the workers when they are asked simple harmless questions. You will all get what's coming to you.
I was at children's village in 1971 for a year I had nothing but good experiences there made my communion there. And even went back after I left to make my confirmation 2 years later. I was in Williams cottage
