What Parents Say
Parents report mixed experiences at Susquehanna Valley Child Dev Center. While several praise the caring teachers and positive developmental progress, others express serious concerns about safety incidents, inconsistent discipline, and management issues that allegedly worsened as enrollment increased.
SVCDC’s mission statement says their mission is to provide quality, safe, and dependable care. The quality of care that my daughter received two days a week in the three months she attended here declined with the more children that were enrolled in her age group as the teachers had to split their attention among more and more kids and I became increasingly concerned for her safety as the incident reports seemed to pile up. The director assured me they have the proper 1:5 ratio of teacher to students but toddlers can be overwhelming especially when one of the teachers seemed to always be out of the room. On days where other kids were out, we had good days but when every kid was there, there always seemed to be an issue. What began as a good experience turned south the more children that were enrolled in her class.
We have sent two children to SVCDC for a total of five years. The majority of our days were great because the teachers were caring and taught our children a lot. However we had very troubling experiences when it came to consistent and fair action being taken when children were a serious threat to the safety of other children. While we were encouraged to share our concerns openly, the follow through to rectify bullying situations was limited. It felt as though we were being lied to repeatedly at the expense of the safety of our children. The teachers are fantastic, but the lack of proper, fair, and consistent discipline is a major concern.
Where to begin? The teachers there are amazing people unfortunately the director is a lying, smug snake in the grass. Our son broke his arm and they failed to notify us and the one person that did contact us was punished and Denise bragged about reprimanding her. She lied to us about what happened to our son, sorry Denise, the video doesn’t lie but you do. We have had several former teachers from there reach out to us with very alarming information. If you care for the safety of your child, stay away from this place.
When I lost my previous child care I needed immediate openings and they were able to work with me. My son loves going and we have seen a major improvement in his overall speech and development. He’s been enrolled now for 2 months and went from a 2 year old who said hardly anything to almost a full, understood vocabulary
My son attended 6 years ago the best and most organized place I have ever been to for childcare. They worked well to try and get my kids behavior under control and it worked. I will never forget how well they treated my son.
