What Parents Say
The reviews provided are not for daycare services but rather for the YMCA facility itself, covering gym equipment, fitness classes, and community programs. Parents/members praise the welcoming atmosphere, quality equipment, and variety of activities available.
I’m a member of a different ymca and I came here to work out while I was visiting. It is a small gym, but that’s expected for a small town. I went on a Sunday morning and the gym was nearly empty, just a couple other members. They have some nice newer matrix brand equipment, along with some older, traditional squat racks and bench presses. There is a smaller weight room by the entrance along with a nice gymnasium.
GREAT Programs! The swim team has been great for my 3 kids development over the last 13 years. Highly recommend for any child, regardless of swimming ability. They have basic swim lessons to start, and one of the best competitive programs in PA. Also, I never lifted weights before in my life. I decided to start this year, was initially intimidated, but I scheduled with Collin, the YMCA Trainer for one session to show me around. I have been lifting now for 4 months- its two (2) weight rooms are great and have everything you need! I really like going now! Thank you, YMCA Team, for the great culture and facility!
Great part of this community, way more than a gym. Love the Zumba classes and the new workout machines on the second floor are a great addition. So happy I joined last year!
Best place in Bloomsburg, forget the bars, forget the food, The absolute best place in Bloomsburg PA, Is the YMCA!
We enrolled our child in camp this past summer and unfortunately would not recommend it. Our child's lead teacher cancelled class for the next day at 10PM via a message from the app used in the classroom. When we called the front desk the next morning to see if there was an alternative solution, we were told that they did not have enough staff and we were to keep our child home that day. After calling to speak with management then three times that same day, I did not receive a call back until 8:30PM and was simply given an apology. The next day, we were sent another message thru the same app that this same lead teacher would not be returning because they had found another job. There was no communication from management, no heads up whatsoever to prepare our child for the sudden change. The week before camp was to have ended, we received a letter asking if our child would be coming to camp because they were short-staffed for his class and he would be placed in the older kids' room for the remainder of the time. Ultimately, we ended up keeping our child home with us that last week rather than pay to have him in a classroom that was not suitable for his age. If you're looking for an educationally-enriched classroom setting, I would not recommend this particular summer camp. After several requests for a daily schedule from my child's teacher, we were given one--- come to find out that they were to have nap time each day for 2.5 hrs, where they were put on the ground (not even a cot of some sort) with their blanket from home and the teacher would put on a movie. Most of the movies were just a cartoon you'd find on Netflix-- not even educational. And there were days that my child came home saying the tv had been on during lunch time as well, meaning these children were essentially watching tv for 3+ hrs some days. Overall, we were very disappointed in the lack of communication between management. We do not feel as though the children are put in an educationally-enriching setting. If you're looking for somewhere to simply watch your child(ren) and take the occasional stroll down to the town pool, this camp may suit your needs but I would proceed with caution.
