Spanish Schoolhouse McKinney has been an absolute blessing for our family! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warmth, professionalism, and genuine care for our children. The teachers are not only incredibly nurturing, but they also bring so much joy and energy into the classroom. My son is excited to go to school every day, and it’s amazing how much Spanish he's picked up in such a short time! The curriculum is fun, immersive, and well-rounded — blending language, culture, creativity, and structure in a way that keeps kids engaged and thriving. We love seeing our little one grow in confidence and curiosity. We can’t say enough great things about this school — it’s truly a gem in McKinney!

My review is specifically for the Summer Camp program at Spanish Schoolhouse (McKinney location). I can’t speak to the school-year experience, but we had high hopes for Summer Camp—especially since I used to teach at SSH years ago (at a different location) and had such a positive experience. Unfortunately, as a new family, we felt unprepared and unsupported. While the Summer camp may work well for returning students who already know the routines, staff, and culture of SSH, it does not seem well set up to welcome and support new families. At SSH McKinney, there was no onboarding. Despite requesting information weeks in advance, I received the camp instructions only the Friday before it started. Communication throughout the camp was minimal. When I reached out via email or the text app to ask how my child was adjusting, the responses felt dismissive—simply saying my child was “perfectly fine” without providing any meaningful details or reassurance. Aside from a generic program overview (which was also available on the website), there was no “meet-the-teacher” opportunity. I met my child’s teachers for the first time on the first day of camp—and teachers changed every two weeks. While names were shared, we were given no further information about who these caregivers were. Even basic information—like the daily schedule, snacks or food administered, the types of books they read, or who to contact with specific questions—was either unclear or not shared. I had to go into the classroom on day one and take a picture of the schedule myself. I also had to ask what kind of snacks were being provided, as that had never been communicated. While the director was polite, her responses often felt apathetic or hurried. As a new parent, I sometimes felt like I was bothering just for asking basic questions about how my child was doing. But when you’re leaving your child in a completely new environment with unfamiliar people, it’s natural to want some reassurance. The lack of process and communication made it hard to feel confident or connected. I still believe Spanish Schoolhouse has incredible potential and remains a strong school overall. But I strongly encourage the team to revisit how they onboard and support new families in their summer camp program—especially in a short-term setting where a strong start truly matters. With better communication, more thoughtful introductions to staff, and a proactive welcome process, the experience could be vastly improved. Until those changes are made, I’d say the summer camp is not suited for new families.

This school has been a true gem in our lives. The dedicated teachers and staff have created an immersive and nurturing environment where our child not only learns Spanish but also develops a love for the language and learning. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed, making learning fun and engaging. Our son has made incredible progress and is excited to share his new language skills with us at home. We couldn't be happier with the experience and are confident that this school is laying a strong foundation for his future education. We're absolutely looking forward for our newborn to embark on the same journey! Thank you for providing such a wonderful place for our child to learn and grow!

Having my kids at the SSH McKinney has been a wonderful experience for the whole family. Staff provides a warm and loving environment for the kids which helps them thrive and look forward to going every day. Having a low teacher -student ratio was a game changer for my kid who previously attended another place. One big difference is to see how happy they are at the end of the day vs from the prior school. Another thing we love is that SSH follows a school -like curriculum vs just a daycare. Overall great experience and we love the SSH McKinney staff! Having an immersive Spanish learning environment is an invaluable tool that we get to gift to ours kids.

From the moment my little one is greeted by teachers in the morning, it's apparent that every staff member is dedicated to fostering a warm, loving, and supportive environment. It’s evident that my daughter feels valued and encouraged, which has helped her excel academically and emotionally. They provide numerous opportunities for students to develop a profound understanding and appreciation for diversity through daily interactions in Spanish immersion.Since joining in January, my child's emotional, physical, and academic abilities have skyrocketed, showcasing immense overall growth. I wholeheartedly recommend SSH!
