Smart Start Learning Center

I had two children enrolled in this program and, until recently, things had been fine. However, I had a disappointing and unprofessional experience with the director that ultimately led to my daughter being removed from the program without valid justification. The situation began when the director asked if my school-aged daughter would be attending on a certain day. I replied yes, and she followed up by asking if I was sure, referencing previous times I said she would attend and she didn’t. I then asked why messages were being sent to all parents if only a limited number of children could attend. I asked calmly and respectfully, as I simply wanted to understand if I needed to confirm attendance daily during the summer. To my surprise, the director responded by saying she didn’t appreciate how I was “coming at her.” I clarified that I was not being disrespectful—I just asked a question. She then called me and said she took the message personally because of how it was typed and even said that “every time something doesn’t go my way, I throw a fit.” That accusation was completely false. I have never had a disagreement with anyone at the center. She claimed my tone came off wrong because I used a question mark and continuously interrupted me during the call. When I calmly continued trying to speak, she accused me of “talking over her.” The only prior issue she referenced was an incident between her and my mother (which I was not even present for), yet she used that to justify her actions against me. She then ended the call by telling me my daughter was no longer allowed back and hung up on me. It’s clear that the decision to remove my daughter was personal and not based on any real policy violation. I went back through every message to see if there was any pattern to support her claims, and found nothing. I’m deeply disappointed. This could have been a simple, respectful conversation, but instead it turned into an unprofessional and unjust outcome that negatively impacted my child—who did nothing wrong.

My kids have been good to smart start for about 2years now I have never had any bad experiences with this daycare like I have at other ones. The staff is amazing they have always been so welcoming. The Director always make sure is there’s a problem and issue it gets taken care of. My kids don’t fight me to go to daycare. They are always ready to go. The curriculum is great. They do a great job helping with potty training also.

I am so grateful for the staff at smart start! They have been great since day 1! I have an infant and a preschooler. They help you with thing such as potty training. Educational base curriculum! My really surprises me with vocabulary sometimes. My baby is also always clean and happy when I pick him up. It’s always a GREAT feeling when you know your children are in good hands when they can not be with you! Thank you Smart Start for being so good to my boys!

It's stressful finding daycare. Who do I want to trust to care for my toddler? We started using Smart Start this fall and we have found that our little guy enjoys “school”. He is happy when his dad drops him off and happy when I pick him up. The staff that work with him are all warm and inviting. I feel that his vocabulary has been improving with daycare as well. We will continue to use Smart Start as our daycare provider.

We’ve been attending Smart Start for a full year and half now and my children love it. We’ve had some small issues but honestly we’ve been at so many different daycares and even the best or most expensive ones have issues. Communication is key!
