Small Steps - Big Strides Child Care

Two stars because the facility is very nice. Would be negative stars based on the staff. On my daughter’s last day, no single person in the facility spoke to me or her to say goodbye or anything else. She was constantly having notes sent home for “bad behavior” and being threatened to be thrown out. When I asked to see footage of the issues they were having with her, they first said they were not sure they could get approval for that. What? Other facilities offer constant live stream footage. When I was finally sent 6-7 clips, they literally showed nothing besides a 3 year old being a 3 year old. An actual statement from their administrator- “running and climbing when asked not to are not typical age appropriate behaviors.” What a joke. After the constant ridiculous notes and threats, we pulled her out on our own. We have been to other daycares before moving here and NEVER had an issue. They are understaffed and don’t know how to handle toddler or toddler behavior. Beware. There is a reason they have the lowest ratings of all the daycares in the area.

I must warn you against enrolling your child in this institution. As a parent of an 18-month-old child in the toddler classroom, taught by Ms. Morgan, who has been employed since December 2020, and assisted by a new teacher, I am appalled by the events that transpired on September 4th, 2025. My child was left unattended in the classroom, which posed a significant safety risk, for over 10 minutes. During this time, the classmates and two teachers were engaged in activities in the gym. Thankfully, my child was found banging on the door by another teacher. Although my child was fortunate to be unharmed, the potential consequences of this incident are alarming. It is disturbing that no disciplinary actions were taken against the staff.

Please do not send your child here if they have ANY sort of disability. The staff is completely unable to care for a child with any sort of special need. The staff will do nothing to try to help diffuse or resolve situations in the classrooms. The “teachers” do not pay any attention to the children, and it is complete chaos every time I drop off/pick up. If they have any issue with your child, they will be completely rude to you. My son had an incident where he misbehaved, and the assistant director at the Stow location LOCKED HIM IN HER OFFICE until his bus came. They kicked my son out with a 3 day notice, instead of working on finding a solution to the problems my autistic child was having. I emailed the director, and she didn’t even have the decency to respond. I asked for accommodations for my son due to his disability, and was told no. Stay far away from this place. The staff is too busy taking care of and playing with their own children who are there instead of watching the children whose parents are paying while away at work. This place is appalling. Take the most recent negative reviews seriously when looking into this place. They hold water.

I could not have asked for a better daycare! My son has been going here since he was a toddler and they have supported us through all the ups and downs life has thrown at us. They truly care about the kids and helping them grow.

This daycare is great! The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. I feel extremely confident leaving my son here. Small Steps Big Strides is educational, fun, secure/safe, and professional. Also, my son follows a special diet, and the kitchen staff have been very accommodating and helpful in assuring he receives the right food.
