What Parents Say
Parents consistently praise Small Impressions CDC for its nurturing, intentional approach to child development that goes beyond typical daycare services. The owner, Mrs. LaVonda Paul, and her staff are frequently described as genuinely caring, dedicated, and invested in children's academic success, social skills, and overall well-being. Multiple long-term families highlight transformative experiences and meaningful programs that prepare children for school and life.
My experience with Small Impressions has been remarkable, and the environment is excellent for all ages. My children are 15, 14, 12, and 10. My two oldest boys have aged out, but my 12-year-old and 10-year-old daughters still attend Small Impressions Child Care Development Center. They have been there since they were babies. This daycare is more than just an average facility; they have allowed me to share my feelings about my children and even stepped in to support me with any challenges I face. My children absolutely love this place and often stay after hours to participate in extracurricular activities. It’s their safe place outside of home where they enjoy learning and achieving new goals. Small Impressions has helped my children, and I am genuinely thankful that they are now reading at or above grade level and that their grades are improving. I’ve never been to any daycare that goes above and beyond like Small Impressions. They genuinely care about your children’s growth, helping them learn new things and succeed at a young age—planting seeds in children to become anything their minds desire. I couldn't ask for anything better. Small impressions are a blessing to my children and me. I recommend this facility to anyone because this is not your typical child care center
Parents, please take note that the staff at this daycare lack compassion for children. Do not be deceived by the appealing pictures and graduation photos. I was once a parent who was impressed by the graduation ceremony, the lovely pictures, and the pleasant demeanor; everything seemed perfect until my child’s first full week. The owner was exceedingly rude to me that morning, prompting my decision to withdraw my child. Her remark was, 'You will need to calm her down before you leave.' I have never encountered a daycare or any establishment that caters to children where the staff is so ill-equipped to manage them. I recognize that many parents may feel they have no alternative but to use this facility, but I implore you, for the sake of your child, to seek out a place that genuinely cares for and loves children, and is willing to engage with them. My daughter attended the same school for three years, and the transition was incredibly difficult for her. One morning, I called to discuss my concerns with the owner, and she responded by yelling and becoming confrontational. I promptly withdrew my daughter from the school. They did not even offer to refund me for the weeks I had already paid. Please do not be misled; be aware of the deceptive appearances. From the outside, this place may seem ideal, but their focus is not on the children; it is solely about the profit.
Let me start off by saying I am deeply saddened to see such a dynamic child development center being cast in a negative light. This is definitely not the center that I have made visits to or traveled on field trips with. I would like to commend the owner Mrs. LaVonda Paul of Small Impressions. She fosters a nurturing, loving and caring environment for ALL!! Small Impressions offers a positive environment for the children that attend. LaVonda cares about every child that attends Small Impressions. She along with her staff continually invest in the growth and development of the children. The happiness and well being is solely noted. LaVonda goes above and beyond to inspire her children to be the best they can be. She is a living testament of the old saying “It takes a village to raise a child”. She gives her time, talent and resources to make sure all of the necessary needs of the children are met. Her teachers are trained regularly and they continue to develop new skills to adapt to the changing environment. Communication is done with the staff as well as the parents/grandparents or caregivers of the children. The children that attend Small Impressions are in a safe, nurturing, caring and loving environment. A safe place that you do not have to worry about your child while you are working. Small Impressions focuses on learning, social skills, independence and self confidence. The owner and staff or very transparent. They offer an awesome support system for the children and parents.
I’m honestly hurt to see the harsh reviews being posted about this child care center. My child started attending Small Impressions when he was just 3 years old, and here we are almost 17 years later …..the owner and the entire staff have truly become family to us. I’ve witnessed firsthand the love, patience, and genuine care they pour into every child who walks through those doors. The teachers don’t just watch the children. They teach, nurture, guide, and support them with the kind of attention that makes kids feel safe, valued, and seen. The owner has always led with her heart, showing compassion, consistency, and a deep commitment to both the children and their families. I know from experience that this center does far more than provide child care. They invest in the kids’ education, their social development, and their well-being. It’s painful to see their character questioned when I’ve watched them go above and beyond for my child and so many others. Small Impressions has made a lasting impact on our lives and so many others.
My son has been attending Small Impressions Child Development Center for almost five years, and our experience has been nothing short of extraordinary. From the very first day, Mrs. Lavonda stood out as exactly what my son needed. She is a leader who pours her heart into every child and every family connected to the center. Her dedication is not something she puts on display, it is something you feel in the way she invests her time, her energy, and her vision into these children. My son has grown tremendously during his time at Small Impressions and through Cultivating Minds, the after school program she personally created for the older children. This program has shaped him in ways I never expected and his grades have improved. Small Impressions offer tutoring and support, which makes my job so much easier. Mrs. Lavonda makes visits to the school and stays on top of their grades. If there is an issue in school she is on top of it before I'm even aware there was a problem. Cultivating Minds encourages entrepreneurship and my son even started his own podcast because Mrs. Lavonda recognized potential in him that he had not yet seen in himself. She waters seeds and she helps children bloom. What sets this center apart is how intentional the work is. Mrs. Lavonda motivates, educates, and encourages every child. Her influence reaches far beyond the classroom. I have seen the long evenings she dedicates to making sure each child feels loved and valued. And let's not mention the over the top events she does each year. The graduations, special events, and hands on learning experiences are created with excellence and purpose. The children at Small Impressions and Cultivating Minds are being prepared for real life. They understand how to introduce themselves and network when in rooms they may have never gotten the chance to be in, carry conversations, and behave respectfully in every setting. They build entrepreneur skills, explore agriculture and farming, study financial literacy, and go on meaningful outings such as college tours. They learn how to give back by feeding the homeless and reading to the elderly. These experiences broaden their world and shape them into responsible, confident, and community minded individuals. Please do not allow one negative review to overshadow the countless positive things that happen here every single day. This work is not about money for Mrs. Lavonda. It is about purpose. It is about nurturing children, giving them opportunities they may never receive anywhere else, and planting seeds that will grow long after they leave her center. I am forever grateful for the love, structure, exposure, and leadership my son has received. Small Impressions is truly a place where children are seen, supported, and inspired to become the best version of themselves. Any parent looking for a center that genuinely invests in the whole child should know that this is the place they want their child to be.
