This institution is superb. There is a fantastic playground, numerous classrooms where children may study and play, a variety of activities to keep children busy, lots of yard space, and a bonus: on-site swimming lessons! Special diets are catered for, and the snacks/meals are prepared on site. The professors are excellent and Susan and Bob make wonderful owners. The Easter Bunny, Santa, and even the Tooth Fairy make holidays more enjoyable for kids. Anyone trying to get their preschoolers ready for kindergarten should definitely consider this school, in my opinion.
This is a great school. There is a wonderful playground, multiple rooms for the kids to learn and play in, plenty of activities to keep the kids engaged - including goats, rabbits, chicks, vegetable garden - lots of yard space, and bonus: on-site swimming lessons! The snacks/meals are made onsite and special diets are accommodated. Susan and Bob are fantastic owners and the teachers are kind and knowledgeable. Holidays are made special for the kids with visits from the Easter Bunny, Santa, even the Tooth Fairy. I highly recommend this school to any parent looking to prepare their preschool children for kindergarten.
We were first exposed to Sheldon Acres when I was looking for swim lessons for my first son. We have 4 kids now that have gone through swim lessons there, each year getting better and better at swimming, turning into little fish! My daughter had the opportunity to go here for preschool, part-time, one year prior to kindergarten and she loved it - every week she'd come home and tell me she wants to go each day, all day. I haven't had any bad experiences. The teachers love my other kids and we can't wait to get them into preschool. Sheldon Acres doesn't have a small yard for outside play - it's huge, clean, green grass, big play structure, swings, and animals.
After two years of both of my children going to Sheldon Acres I feel like it is finally time to write them the review that they deserve. I first found Sheldon Acres on Yelp when I was stationed in San Diego and preparing to transition out of the Navy. I needed to find good child care for my children because I was going to be going back to school. What I ended up with was more than just "good child care." The staff over there have become an extension of my family and I never have to feel nervous or worried when my babies are with them. Mrs. Sarbjeet in particular has been helpful with my son who can have a hard time getting focused, and Ms. Stephanie has been great for my daughter who can need some extra love sometimes as she is a very sensitive little girl. My kids have even gotten so comfortable over there that my daughter has even been know to call Mrs. Susan, the program director, grandma! Everyone over there seriously always keeps me informed on how they are doing (academically, emotionally, behaviorally, socially) and every month I even receive a calendar with that month's lesson plan, as well as, a hand print or foot print art project. These few examples are really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to how much time, effort, and dedication these people put into my kids. Bob and Susan truly go out of their way to make sure that the kids that are in their care are not only growing but flourishing. They have: A huge outside facility with swings, a play structure, play houses, and much more! (You will just have to see it to believe it!) Goats and bunnies! In class science projects (Watching caterpillars grow into butterflies and tadpoles grow into frogs) Holiday parties with children's recitals (Watching a room full of children sing Christmas songs seriously makes my year every time) They also offer additional programs and organize: Gymnastics Dance Soccer Swimming Lessons Parent's Night Out (From 6-11!) An annual field trip to Fog Willow Pumpkin Patch (My kids personal favorite) I cannot say enough how much we love this place and if you aren't sold yet then you will just have to go check it out for yourself!
For parents who don't want to put their kids in an over-priced chain preschool with all the warmth and fuzziness of a doctor's office, this is the place for you! Sheldon Acres is clean, but kid-friendly. The wide open floor plan encourages community and makes it easy for parents to check up on their kiddos at any time (a big relief to us worried mamas that want to check in). The staff is kind & caring and the school even provides home cooked meals. The best part by far is the outside of the school. The yard is HUGE, with a playground, a fenced off swimming pool, a train car, a vegetable garden, and live rabbits and goats! The kids not only get a great education, but they get away from the cemented-in feel of most schools and get the life experience of being around living things and seeing how they're cared for. This is also a great place to go in summer for swimming lessons (your child doesn't have to be enrolled at the school). Pros: Extremely reasonable pricing Staff that cares about your child as a person Kids learn about caring for living things in their world Great education Swim lessons Cons: Maybe you don't like grass?
