What Parents Say
School for Little Children in Sugar Land receives highly polarized reviews. Most parents praise the caring staff, play-based learning approach, and Christian values, reporting their children thrive and love attending. However, two negative reviews describe dismissive staff, unprofessional leadership, and concerns about how the school handles children with high energy or behavioral challenges.
The School for Little Children is truly something special. The staff are wonderfully personable, loving and genuinely caring—they go above and beyond to make every student feel seen and supported. From the front office staff (Kristie, Mara and Heidi) to the teachers (Ms. Melvin, Ms. D’Agnolo) and their wonder aides (Ms. Weir and Ms. Janek) to the music teachers, Chapel leaders, STEAM teachers and everyone else, my kiddo absolutely loves going each day. EVERYONE has been amazing! The friendships my daughter has built there have been such a joy to watch blossom. She can definitely be a challenge at times—an independent little soul who values her autonomy—but the team has embraced that part of her and helped her grow in the most beautiful ways. I’m so grateful for the environment they’ve created and the way they’ve helped her flourish. Highly recommend sending your little ones here.
Update - I would like to warn parents that most of these 5 star reviews came after negative ones and to consider that they may have been asked for and there for not genuine. I would give zero stars if I could but the one star goes to Mrs Irma and Mrs Sullivan. This school traumatized my 3 year old son and family. If you have a normal baby who has lots of energy and doesn’t behave like a robot or soldier I wouldn’t send them here. Who sends a baby to the office every single day because they don’t want to eat their lunch etc? The director is extremely unprofessional and spiteful. She told us that our son “would never be able to go to a normal school and needed an aid”. They expelled my son and we found a new private school with real Christian values who respect and love their students. Fast forward to now, he is 5 years old and thriving. He does not need an aid and has received many awards. He won most improved student last year and student of the month countless times. What I learned from this experience is to trust your gut and your children. Do not let people who abuse their position label or mistreat your children. There was and is nothing wrong with my son. He was just a normal little boy who had never been to daycare. Shame on you Mrs Kristy and staff.
There’s a reason this school struggles to gather positive feedback, and my own experience confirms it. At best, the program is lackluster—there are no real advantages here compared to better-priced, higher-quality options just down the street. What’s worse is the staff. Time and again, I found them short, dismissive, and visibly annoyed when approached with questions or concerns. This is not the environment you want for young children, who need patience, kindness, and encouragement. Instead, the tone here feels cold and transactional—as though the children are simply numbers to be managed. I (and my child) had a terrible experience, and after seeing similar stories from other parents, it’s clear there’s a troubling pattern. A preschool should be a safe, supportive space for both children and families. Sadly, School for Little Children fails on that most basic promise. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. There are far better programs in Sugar Land where your child will be welcomed with warmth, respect, and professionalism—qualities this place is sorely lacking.
There aren’t enough positives things I can say about this sweet school. I have had two children go from pre-K 2 through prek4 and we have adored every class! My son soared in Kindergarten thanks to the prep from SFLC. The learning through play is unmatched, the teachers love the kids, Christ centered and Mrs. Kristi is amazing!! The Christmas program is absolutely adorable! The best decision we have made as parents :)
It’s taken me a lot of courage to write this please READ! SAVE YOUR CHILDS CHILDHOOD! The staff (not all of them, but the bad ones make up more than 70% of the staff there) This school is a Super clicky group of teachers and administrators. They will gang up on your child with no remorse. For example, if a teacher is having troubles with a child, then the principal will follow suit without investigating. Kristy assumes and never investigates. She’s a big part of the problem there. I sent my 2 boys here all from ages 2-4 (worst decision, you think because it’s in Sugarland and attached to a church it’s going to be SAFE, WRONG, my children was not safe here) Being called into the office because my children didn’t want to behave like soldiers, stating that there’s psychological behavior that needs to be addressed and medicated (my wife and I are huge advocates for real help, but Kristy just wanted to shut my children up and any other child that didn’t follow the rules to their liking) AGAIN the super clicky teachers would never call on children whose parents they’re actual friends with or liked better I would sit in the parking lot watching my children play in the playground and I saw with my eyes how other children would mistreat my child and my child would always get reprimand by the teacher trying to resolve the situation. Incident reports would not always be recorded, this was said to me by Kristy.
