I will give it a couple of more chances before I just stop coming all together. Ive been there TWO times. 1st time every employee i encountered was MISERABLE! The janitor lady let out a frustrated yell in the locker room because she hates doing trash, storms out, comes back in and I held the door for her. She doesnt say thank you so I said "you are welcome" she replied "YUP. YOUR WELCOME". Miserable energy. Then yesterday my daughter was freezing after we got out of the pool so I had her toes in the hot tub. We were all sitting right next to her and watching her. My daughter is 2 but she couldnt have gone in, we were blocking the step area so that she could just dip her toes in a little. Lifeguard marches over to tell us she cant have her toes in the water. We proceed to take her into the locker room which is FREEZING! Who wants to get out of a pool, hot tub, sauna, or steamroom and enter a freezing locker room? My kid was shivering and crying it was so cold. Not impressed so far
I like this Y very much. Full of wonderful experiences. I do find Studio 1 upstairs adjacent to track very difficult to hear instructors. It’s an extremely echoing space and a bit hard to find. The rest of the facility is great, including most of the staff. Remember the smiling positive experiences. The other times are to be forgiven.
Not coming here any longer. I have been a member for close to 10 years. Today had a staff member who was not on the clock, but was swimming approached me in the locker room as I made a shopping list inside my locker, door open, pointing toward the corner - I needed medicine for my sick child at home. So here I am typing a note to purchase ibuprofen and cold meds and she comes up to me loudly in front of everyone in the locker room and states “ we have a policy on the door you are not supposed to be using your cell phone in the locker room.” Went to speak to the manager ( amIm not a Karen in fact, I’m a very nice person and never like to make waves) and the manager and the higher up manager both defended the woman saying she was just staring policy. Embarrassing in front of all the other customers in the locker room who thought it was ridiculous. With the number of people, I see/hear in the locker room, talking on their phones, talking on earpieces really loudly where you can even hear both ends of the conversation, on speaker, etc. And here I am quietly facing my locker making a shopping list?! Do you want people to come to your establishment and feel happy and welcome or do you want them to feel like they have to walk on eggshells and don’t feel welcome. Well, you have successfully accomplished the latter and I will be going to Glenville YMCA from now on because they are actually nice there.
The Saratoga Regional YMCA is a beautiful facility. I've only been going there for about 5 weeks. They have a Chair Yoga class on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:00 a.m. that is hosted by Dan L. This style yoga class is geared more toward older folks and people with limited mobility. Dan L. also has a meditation class that follows at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you never tried meditation, he is definitely the person to help you slow down and relax into the current moment. I can't say enough about Dan's commitment and dedication to guiding people to healthy bodies and healthy minds. Dan L. is truly an asset to the YMCA.
People scrolling through their phones while standing next to or sitting on a weight machine. Twice I’ve tried to use the weights but was told they are using it and still have to finish their rounds. Get off your phone and complete their workout or step aside so I can start mine! There should be a policy in place for this so others can enjoy the amenities included with their membership fees! I’ve had to drive to another location to get my workout in ….unfair!!!!!
