I didn't go to school here, but given the breadth of the coursework offered, it's a good place to start your career. Take the foundational classes at SJC and then transfer to a 4-year institution. That's the smart way in my book.
Great College and a good first step! If thinking about a health field, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Blake. She is an awesome instructor and knows a LOT about Human Anatomy & Physiology and beyond. Equipment and ITC and Computer equipment seem very outdated though. Frustrating to use.
Professors give vague questions with little to no information about what they are asking. They want to do the bare minimum required of their job if they are even meeting bare minimum standards. Also most courses have way too many things added that will never have anything relevant to the actual course of what you are studying. Based off of their online courses my opinion is their professors are incompetent in their ability to accurately manage the courses they are offering. With that being said that is probably the reason behind them offering a reasonably priced course. I would recommend anyone looking to attend to look further to find a better suited institution.
Farmington is a very connected place that has certain people that uphold the structure of society. I was not accepted into this circle and I was looked at as an outcast. I was looked down upon because of my background! I am homeless and I made that clear the very moment of registration. I informed many instructors and even mentioned it in all of my classes/scholarship applications, I'm not sure if that was a good idea. All I know is that I was overlooked in all the areas that were supposed to offer guidance and support. I was denied student housing! I was never offered the opportunity ever since. I signed up for TRIO, which is a student resource program and was ignored or never reached out to even when they stated that they received my information. All the instructors promised support and say one thing but I was still looked upon as if I wasn't good enough for the class or the resources. I even had to argue my case about the bookstore giving me the impression that the instructor was the one to provide study material, which I was still not taken seriously. Finding out later on through the semester that I needed a textbook which my financial was supposed to be covering. Financial aid did not help me what so ever with the difficulties of receiving my financial aid. I was informed about the wrong instructions in dealing with these problems and was told, " It's not our financial aid!" whatever that is supposed to mean. I had to have support in helping me pay for my classes from my family. I am so fed up with being treated so unfairly that I am willing to walk away from my future career. I will more than likely pursue my education from a different school. I even signed up for counseling because of how it could benefit me with my stress of college and living situations. I was not taken seriously and was given the impression that it didn't matter if I was asking for help! The good Lord knows that I am doing everything I can to succeed and if it is God's will , I will get through this semester. Hopefully I find a better solution. San Juan College made me feel like because of my race or because I am homeless, that I will not be treated fairly! The one star that I rate is still not worth the experience I received. Thank you San Juan College!
