What Parents Say
Rock Rec Camp is a recreation center (not a traditional daycare) in Castle Rock with mostly positive reviews praising friendly staff, clean facilities, and family-friendly amenities. However, some patrons report issues with maintenance, staffing inconsistencies, and enforcement policies that detract from their experience.
Great value for access to all the facilities, especially if you spend the day there. The staff are super friendly. Love the track in the cardio section of the gym. Can be difficult to find somewhere to sit in the kids pool area, especially on when school is out/weekends.
The children who work as lifeguards are extremely homophobic and made me feel unsafe. My partner and I were swimming in the lazy river area (both of us are in our 20s) and we were approached by a manager in the pool who said that a lifeguard said we were "making out" we told him we weren't and he said "all good as long as you aren't doing that" we moved on but we're disappointed by the approach because we were not kissing and were in fact just swimming together. We had already felt out of place as the guards were staring at us for most of their shifts and kept flirting with each other across the pool. After that we went into the steam room and were checked on immediately by the blonde lifeguard working the other side of the pool. After us a group of three, including a couple, went into the steam room alone and weren't checked on one within their 5 minutes of being in the steam room. I understand that not everyone is comfortable with gay couples and feels the need to make gay people feel uncomfortable being in straight spaces but I just want to swim at the pool without being harassed for my gender or my sexuality. We also went at 7:30 pm to avoid being around crowds of people and we were some of the only people in the pool. This wasnt a question of other people in the pool being uncomfortable by our presences but the lifeguards themselves who were uncomfortable. I wouldn't trust the homophobic teens to find enough compassion within themselves to save my life if it were in danger. This place needs better management and better lifeguards who will protect your children and your life without bigotry.
This place sucks now. No hot tub. Tables are for staff-lifeguards now. No lazy river tubes. Sides shut down half the time. Vending machines don't work. Total crap.
I’ve called them multiple times asking if they had open gym in the basketball gym. They have said yes every time and when I get there, there’s either practice or other things going on. If you need information look on the app. It’s a lot more correct than the people that work there apparently.
I recently purchased a year membership and have had a wonderful experience so far! I have gone 6 days a week for the last two weeks and all of the staff I have encountered are extremely friendly and professional. The area is always clean and I never have an issue finding/ using any equipment. My son goes to their child-watch and the staff knows and treats him well! This has been the best investment with our recent move here.
