River Song School

It's a beautiful place but the woman running it has either fired or experienced the walking out of 8 teachers over the last 2 years. EIGHT! Parents have been understandably upset as their children have had to deal with new teachers constantly and NO GOODBYES as a result of these questionable firings. She sent us parents unprofessional emails that did little to set us at ease. Other parents were never sent any notice at all that their teachers were abruptly gone from school. Ask other schools here how many kids have arrived in their classrooms after River Song. There is a laundry list of other issues as well. School is supposed to nurture and be a wonderful place for kids to grow. The stress she has placed on families has been unethical and thoughtless. The school could be wonderful but absolutely needs a change in leadership. I urge current and past families to post reviews to spare other families from this awful experience. I also urge new families to do their due diligence and truly ask around about the school.

This school no longer exists. The exec director Robin Johnson took off to Mexico citing health reasons and then blamed the bookkeeper for failure to keep the financial books straight. On May 31st parents were notified that the school was closing effective that very same day at 12:30pm. Numerous parents have paid months in advance and thousands of dollars and will not get any of it back from the school. The board consisted of Robin Johnson who was the president and Jesse Roberts who is a creative director at another non-profit in Bend - Rise Up International. Arren, the acting executive director who was hired on May 6th, and Maria Peace the bookkeeper called and emergency meeting on Friday to notify the parents they were bankrupt and couldn't pay the teachers for the service in May. Many of the parents and teachers suspect embezzlement and fraud by Robin, Maria or Jessie and they are currently being investigated by the FBI, DOJ and BOL. Please look elsewhere... The teachers and acting executive director Arren are amazing people! Robin Johnson, Jesse Roberts, and Maria Peace are to blame for this school going under and are trying to cover it up.

I've really enjoyed being part of River Song - from the Spirit Animal Art show, international projects, and summer camp. I highly recommend this school to parents who are looking for quality creative education!

Innovative, caring and compassionate school. Beautiful setting, children are well prepared for their entry into kindergarten.
