Preschool At Northside Drive Baptist Church

Used to be a wonderful place for worship. Far left leaning now, they like to call it progressive, and you will hear it in sermons, prayers and selection of guest speakers. Their next speaker is Sarah McCammon from NPR talking about whiteness and exvangelicas. Many long time members no longer attend regularly if at all and attendance is bare bones as a result. Inclusion is one of the big buzz words but you will feel comfortable only if you are like minded.

At Sunday School yesterday - we talked about what it means to be a Baptist - both today, and past. To me - some things it means - past. A formal service. Reverence for God - in God’s house. Men who look like Asa Hutchinson and Mike Pence - breaking from character long enough to be goofy. Calling me “David John”. Dinner after a Sunday night service - Democrats *and* Republicans. The height of hostility only being “that’s a bunch of bologna.” That’s it!! Hugs and goodbyes until Wednesday night dinner. What does it mean to me today - to be a Baptist? More than I can get my head around…. The things I just mentioned - and - respect for my belief - our belief - of past sins forgiven through Jesus Christ. With validation for me if I meet someone - who also believes that - and walks side by side with me. A welcoming of that marriage, among them. It’s like having one foot in two worlds. I thought I’d never see it. I’m grateful for this.

I have been attending Northside Drive Baptist Church for a little over 3 years, and have enjoyed how welcoming the church is to all people. Particularly, I have enjoyed going to some of the young adult functions (pub theology, river rafting, Sunday school, and bowling/dinners). If you are looking for an inclusive and welcoming church, give Northside Drive a try - I'm sure you'll be impressed!

This has been a very welcoming congregation. The clergy and staff are top notch. This church is the best kept secret in Atlanta.
