We enrolled our daughter (whole grains two year old class) at PB & J this month because of its high ratings, but our experience was alarming from the very beginning. Day 1: The teachers never introduced themselves—I had to ask for their names. My daughter came home with a completely untouched lunch. After checking the cameras, it was clear the teachers were on their phones instead of helping her. She only ate the items she could open herself. When I emailed the director, there was no accountability or concern. Day 2: Things got even worse. While watching the cameras, I noticed the lead teacher was frequently on her phone. The real issue happened at around 1:40 PM on November 13th: I witnessed a teacher grab a little girl by the arm, the little girl got out of the teachers arms and ran to her cot the teacher then flip the child’s cot over while she was lying on it. The child fell onto the floor, and the teacher slammed the cot down and walked away, leaving this TWO-year-old there. This is absolutely abuse. I immediately went to the school to remove my daughter. The director still took no responsibility. To make matters worse, she shouted the building code across the lobby—right in front of delivery personnel—an obvious security breach. Later, I was told the teacher was “reprimanded,” but when I asked if that meant fired and whether the child’s parents were notified, I got no answers—just a message saying my refund was in the mail. Parents: please choose a different school. What I witnessed was not only unprofessional, but abusive. I would never trust this daycare with my child again. This school doesn't even deserve one star.
We are so proud to be a PB&J family. My five year old daughter just graduated from PB&J and started kindergarten last week. She has sailed through her first week of kindergarten with wonder and excitement and I give huge credit to the outstanding teachers at PB&J for setting the foundation. We also have a 2.5 year old son who is at PB&J and loves every minute of school. Every morning at drop off, I'm able to pull away knowing that my kids are in a safe and loving environment. My favorite thing about PB&J and the teachers is that they nurture critical life traits like empathy, kindness, curiosity, and compassion while never losing sight of the fact that being a kid is pretty awesome and learning should be fun. I feel so thankful that the teachers at PB&J have been part of their childhood.
With very professional staff and a very warm and caring environment, PB&J Day School is a great fit for our son and our family. We love the many and varied ways of communicating with us parents about our child's day to day, the wonderful facilities created with teaching little ones in mind, and the personal touch of Brooke and Jennifer which has made this transition for our family a positive one. We look forward to seeing our son grow and learn at PB&J in the years to come.
This is my sons second and last pre-school. We are so thrilled with the program, the teacher retention rate and systems put into place by this daycare. Aaron is learning so much and he is so happy when he goes to school. The teachers stay the same so he always has that to count on. Both the owners are super involved and genuinely care about each child. The communication is fantastic between the staff and families. PB&J was highly recommended to us by friends and neighbors and I'm so glad that it was. I can't express how happy we are there.
So far, so good! Our daughter is enjoying PB&J and we love the communication with daily reports on what the class is learning and how our daughter is doing, both academically and behaviorally. Most importantly, our daughter is liking her days there and the learning/playing ratio seems to be working well. We'll update our review after more time has passed, but these first two weeks have proven themselves to be a very promising start!
