What Parents Say
Open Arms Preschool Channel 3 Kids Camp receives overwhelmingly positive feedback, with parents praising the fun activities, safe environment, and friendly staff. However, one recent review raises concerns about cleanliness, facility maintenance, food quality, and supervision of children with special needs.
I went here as a camper twice (2017 and 2021), both times were horrible. I was bullied harshly by my fellow campers and none of the nearby adults did anything, and my time there was hell (2017), when I returned four years later, I was once again ostracized by my fellow campers (both in my cabin and the cabin we were paired with) for being queer and for symptoms of my mental illnesses (at the time, I was diagnosed with ADHD and unmedicated). I was among the younger kids both times, and the teenagers who weren't yet counselors seemed to only interact with us with disdain. The camp is also generally very unclean (bathrooms are damp and moldy, as well as out in the open for any bugs or woodland creatures to crawl in, and the showers are practically an ecosystem of their own.), and I also saw disabled kids being made fun of and abandonded by the other kids. Overall, please do not send your child here if they are queer or disabled, either physically or mentally.
This is our children’s 2nd summer back. They seem to enjoy it, however I recently noticed that it could be a LOT cleaner. The bathrooms were pretty gross and the nurses office smelled like mold… I’m not sure if they lack the funding, but it definitely needs to be cleaned and updated… Also , they can do better on the food they're giving the kids. The children are not allowed to have their own snacks, however the Counselors are allowed to eat their personal snacks in front of the children... Also, I noticed there was a few children with disabilities that did not have the proper supervision. There was one child that was running around naked and the poor Counselors tried their best to handle the situation. Other than that the kids seem to like it and the group of Counselors seem to be good with the children, however I am not too sure that they will be returning.
This is an awesome place to send your children. Fun activities, safe environment, great staff and communications while your camper is away. They also make pick up and drop off convenient as well as payment methods.
I love Channel 3 Camp I’ve been sending my daughter for a few years now because she always has a great time. It is nice to see familiar faces and know that she will meet new friends in a safe environment.
Very interesting with the owner of this camp teaching the kids it is ok to smash other peoples trail cameras they find in the woods. I would not send my kids to be corrupted into illegal behavior by this man Luckily he missed a camera or two while performing these crimes.
