This facility was highly recommended to me by a several parents. I was very excited to call to get more information regarding their summer programs since their website is pretty vague. Catherine answered my phone called and when I expressed, I would like more information regarding the summer programs that offered she said "Let me start off with we offer those spots to our kids that already attend our classes first, we could put you on a waiting list and they can give you a call closer to summer, the lady that you need to talk to isn't here today". When I told her that was great even if there might be a waiting list, I would still like to know more information regarding the program. That is when I got a "What do you want to know" I went on to say that I would like to know the basics: when does the program start, cost etc. since the website doesn't have a lot of information. Catherine begins telling me they go on field trips once a week "but I think that may cost extra" and it was obvious she didn't know the program all too well. That is when I asked if she could take my name and number down for someone who knew the program better contact me so that I get correct information. That is when I got the "wow I do know what I am talking about". I apologized and said I am not trying to sound rude I would much rather talk to someone that was more versed on the program. Cathrine then went back to the "I do know what I am talking about". I then asked for her name again and she responded with "what is your name" I then asked for her name a second time in which she repeated herself and I asked one more time and finally got her name I thanked her and then she hung up on me. I immediately called back, and Cathrine answered the phone again. I introduced myself again and this time asked to speak to a manager. That is when I got transferred to Erica. I introduced myself and began to explain my experience, you know that I just called up there to get more information on the summer program and that I spoke to a Catherine and that is when I immediately got interrupted with "yeah she is our receptionist", I then tried to continue with how my interaction went with Catherine and that is when I got the "what do you want to know" again right in the middle of me speaking. I couldn't even count how many times she interrupted me, and I even asked if she would please let me finish speaking. Erica's response, "I am just trying to answer your questions" when in fact I haven't even had a chance to fully ask any questions. Erica was extremely curt with me the entire interaction. I finally had enough and told her "Never mind, I will NOT be sending my child to this facility especially if this is the way you are going to treat people inquiring information about the programs offered". I then got hung up on for the second time. I am beyond floored on my experience; this is supposed to be a Lutheran based facility.
My son has gone to Open Arms for almost three years now, and my little girl recently started attending. The staff is very friendly and I'm always impressed and surprised at how great the entire staff is at greeting the kiddos - even staff members who aren't directly teaching my kids seem to know their names and always say hi. I also love getting to attend things like Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas programs and Muffins with Mom.
My daughter attends Open Arms and I love it. She has been there since she was an infant. All of the teachers are great with the kids, you can tell they really have a passion and a love for what they are doing. They keep the kids busy through the day with a lot of educational activities. I would and have recommend Open Arms to others.
If I could give zero stars I would. They have tons of kids to one classroom, children are always sick, meaning they do a very poor job of cleaning the facility. Would not recommend and will never put my child in this center.
Leadership is not strong and the continued change in staff is difficult on the kids. We suggested ideas to improve, but none were taken.
