What Parents Say
Oak Lawn Day Nursery receives overwhelmingly positive feedback for its caring, well-educated staff and strong academic preparation. Parents praise the nurturing environment, faith-based community, and excellent results in early literacy and kindergarten readiness. One parent with a child on the autism spectrum reported inadequate accommodations and frequent pickup requests.
I came here, thinking that my daughter would be accepted with her religious exemption for not being vaccinated… TO my disgusting surprise and shock they DO NOT AND REFUSED TO EXPLAIN WHY they don’t accept unvaccinated children. that is absolutely appalling who gave all these churches, and all these institutions so much power??? that they can deny a child, their religious exemption??? all of them need to be called out every single one of them!
Amazing school! The Director is irreplaceable, compassionate, involved, and truly cares about every single student. The church community is wonderful and they have helped reinforce a love for God in our children. They really try to create a sense of community and family. Wonderful school for all age groups. Graduation was bittersweet.
This day care is the best. I had 2 children that went to this day care. The teachers are excellent at teachering the fundamentals to children. The really prepared both of them to stay focused on what they were learning which will help them in future grades. They reinforced sharing. The teachers care about every child there and noticed one child needed glasses because she had a hard time reading letters in pre school. The safety measures for picking up children are excellent. As a mom safety was important as well as environment. Thank you.
Liked this school a-lot until my son was diagnosed with Autism at 2 .Theres nothing put in place at all for children that might have any delayments. Was called often to pick up my son when he cried too much or needed any additional attention.( never compensated for it) Was told before that they were not a special ed school. He was only 1-2 at the time. Knowing his delayments, they still forced/promoted him into a older class that the teacher to student ratio decreased significantly (2 teachers to 15 kids) and called me every single time they felt my son was a distraction. He was ONLY 2. Pros. They allowed his therapy sessions. I connected with one teacher (Ms. Tracey) . You can tell she just genuinely loves what she does. I know everyone may cant related to having a child on the spectrum, but something should be put in place where they are not being automatically singled out due to it.
We appreciate reviews, but sometimes clarification needs to be made. This post is for clarification regarding another review. 1. OLDN is not a Catholic school. The review stated twice we were Catholic. As much as we appreciate and love our Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ, we are not a Catholic school. 2. We do not hold children by their arms if they are misbehaving. We do redirect children and give love hugs when they are in danger of hurting themselves, others, or trying to run out of the room. 3. This is a tuition-based school. We are not a public school. Therefore, parents have to pay tuition. While it is always difficult to enforce payment, teachers must be paid and therefore tuition must be on time. Some monies, such as deposits, are non-refundable. 4. It can be difficult for preschool children who have been only at home to acclimate to school and social environments. They may cry and not want to leave mom or dad. Our teachers are experts at motivating children to stay and it has been our experience that once parents leave, children become engaged with the other children in the room and learn to enjoy school and social activities. It is essential for parents to work with the teachers for children to be successful in school.
