I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share our experience to inform other parents. My son initially attended the North Avenue location and absolutely thrived under the previous director, Megan. He did well, felt supported, and we had no major concerns. Unfortunately, after a new director, Shannon, took over, everything changed. At just 2 years old, my son began being accused of extreme behaviors such as attacking teachers, choking other children, and being violent — claims that felt exaggerated and inconsistent with both his age and his behavior at home. Rather than working collaboratively with us, the solution presented was to transfer him to their other location, Ascend to the Heights, which was described as a larger facility better equipped to help when children feel overstimulated. I was told that if my son ever needed time to calm down, he would briefly visit a resource room and then return to his classroom. What actually happened was very different. I later learned that he was spending a significant amount of time placed in the resource room — a space intended for children that consistently need special attention. My son does not have special needs; he is a normal, energetic 3-year-old. This placement felt inappropriate, unfair, and ultimately harmful to him. Communication throughout this process was extremely poor. Parents receive no real-time updates, and the app is not updated until around 7 PM, leaving you completely in the dark about your child’s day. Important changes — such as his primary teacher being removed for reportedly being mean to children — were never communicated to me by management. I only learned this information from another employee, which is deeply concerning. The final straw came on my son’s last day. When I arrived to pick up his belongings, nothing could be found besides his diapers. His designated cubby had apparently been given to another child during his time there. There was no accountability, no urgency — just a casual apology. Overall, the experience was handled unprofessionally and without transparency. As a mother, I never felt confident or reassured leaving my child in their care. Trust is everything when it comes to childcare, and unfortunately, that trust was completely broken. I have since moved my son to a different daycare and have seen an immediate improvement. I hope this review encourages leadership to reflect seriously on communication, child placement practices, and how concerns are handled — because families deserve better.
My grandson has been enrolled in the daycare and school for four years. They are well organized, extremely clean and treat each child with care and concern. We are so grateful for the love and support that they have given to us through the years. They truly have made a difference in our lives. Thank you and we look forward to returning next summer for their outstanding summer fun program.

They won't return phone calls and barely return emails. I would even bother trying to contact Ascend, I tried multiple times over the course of three weeks.
My daughter started attending this childcare 3 years ago and is now a part of their private school for kindergarten. This is by far the best childcare experience she has had! I love that it is very organized and there isn’t a high turn around with teachers. Everyone treats my daughter with so much love and affection and she has been thriving since the day she started. She has made many friends and absolutely loves coming to school as result. I HIGHLY recommend!!
