How disappointing. The experience here was not plesent. First we are met with an unfriendly male as the receptionist. Smile and lighten up. Maybe greet the people coming in with a smile instead of staring and having cocky answered when being asked questions. Secondly when our loved one was out of surgery we waiting 2 and a half hours before getting a phone call to finally let us know that she was awake and they where waiting for a room which could take minutes to hours.... finally get the call after about 3 and half hours that she has a room get up there where there's nurses just standing around and multiple rooms opened and not being used. Literally make that make sense. Very unorganized. Do better. Waiting area wasent even cleaned floors dirty tables dirty. And no changing table in the bathroom in the waiting area

Everything was great until Sunday one nurse in labor and delivery named Heather. She who is not certified in car seat check decided she was going to do it on my newborn preemie son. Since it was my first time having said car seat check, I asked “shouldn’t he have clothes on?” She said ‘no he’s just going to be buckled up’ well I thought that was odd for how sensitive their skin is, she took the car seat and him back behind the nurses station. I went and found where they were at so I could occasionally go check on him saw he was hunched over and said I don’t think he’s supposed to be that way so she adjusted him and tightened the straps and I went back to my room then like 5 minutes later she comes back and says yup he failed his o2 tanked to 50%. I don’t know why for one she would let it go that low and so my husband and I started asking questions. She was rude and only said his trachea muscles weren’t strong enough so we asked to talk to the pediatrician in person so she leaves the room and comes back with the pediatrician on speaker phone. We were asking questions just to understand what happened after trying to talk to the pediatrician, who was not there while the whole thing happened, the nurse decided to butt in after my husband stood up to try and talk to the pediatrician so she could hear him but clearly didn’t and interrupted, the nurse said well bottom line he’s not leaving ( my newborn) which we never had a issue with that only wanted answers for us to understand. He told the nurse she was being rude and to leave our room and we request another nurse to take over. She left but then called security and cops to kick my husband out because she was scared for her live even tho my husband is just a loud talker, the cops didn’t even know why they were there and thought it was stupid. Then she reported us to CPS even tho we didn’t do anything wrong, in her report to CPS she stated father was being loud and cussed… she’s the one that almost killed my son!! The certified car seat specialist looked at my car seat and saw the straps were way to high and I asked her why the nurse said he didn’t need clothes and she was confused and said no they most definitely need clothes on and you could tell she wasn’t happy with how my baby was strapped in. After running almost a 2 hour car seat check with the specialist my sons O2 levels never dropped below 93% if that tells you anything! Chelsea and Natalie along with the other nurses were wonderful but Heather completely RUINED my labor and delivery experience at McLaren Northern Michigan!

My son broke his wrist tonight and we had to go to the emergency room. I cannot thank the staff enough especially Dr. Alterie! Extremely professional and very caring towards my son. They made him as comfortable as possible during X-rays and also made him laugh during a painful time! I appreciate all of them. Thank you so much

I can’t, Count the number of times I’ve been here. But for each, time that I been here, I’ve been treated so very well. Even the times that I don’t remember showing up here, and I woke up, someone was sitting right there by, saying do you know where your at right now ? Some of the times I did not, and was feeling, so bad inside and they made me, feeling happy, and myself again. And their food is So Really Great Here !! And you always get plenty to eat here, and Always a wonderfully view out there windows, and visitors are always welcome to come and see ya, and the nurses desk, will always tell them how you are doing, from the time you showed up there, to the day, it is today. And I even once had them bring up , a great food dish, for the person who was visiting me that day. Thank You for making all my stays here, really great and friendly, and always a Great Place for me, to get better while I, been so very, very sick, than ever before. And yes it’s a Great Place, I hope, and pray that I may stay better, and I don’t have to go back, in a very long time again. I Really Want to Enjoy, this Summer of 2025,,,&2026. All feeling as Great as I’am now and for Everyone that Works Here,,,,Thank-You For The Great Care That You Have Given ME Each And Every-time I Have Been In Here !!! From 2 years ago to today, this hospital has done a 180! - More efficient processing and treating patients - Staff is of high quality, helpful and pleasant - Scheduling is much easier Don't hold onto your past experiences for your opinion... awesome improvements have been realized and continue!
