What Parents Say
New Song Academy has highly polarized reviews. Two parents praise the Christ-centered curriculum and staff, while nine parents report serious concerns about director Phyllis's unprofessional and dismissive behavior, inconsistent policy enforcement, inappropriate staff conduct toward children, and high staff turnover.
We had to pull our child out after less than 3 months. Wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. Phylis is inconsistent to deal with, nor does she stand behind the agreements she makes with parents in the documents you sign before sending your child there.
Had a great experience until we didn't... I got a HORRIBLE letter home from the director about my two year old. When I called and tried to address the letter was then told I was the problem and a bad mom, I sat in my daughter's class during their Valentine's day party and my daughter's teacher (Angela) sat there for a good half hour and just belittled my daughter in front of her, I brought it to the directors attention and was dismissed and told that the teacher was having a bad day, when I next asked her teacher to start taking her potty before diaper changes (because she pottys fine at home) and was told "I don't have to" by Angela. I begged for my sweet girl to be put into another class because we had no issues with her siblings classes and was told absolutely not there was no way possible to move her up, I then after asking to make a payment plan because we had a tution of 3800$ for the month of April got a DISGUSTING letter home about my two year old, which was inappropriate and unprofessional come to find out the director pulled my five year old from his class and asked him questions about his sister that wasn't her right to ask, and admitted he lied because "Miss Phyllis told him to" I was then told I had to take 2.5-3 hours out of my work day and sit in her class so I could see how "naughty" my child is. Please save yourself the hassle and money, I hope this facility gets shut down soon.
The owner Phillis is the most unprofessional and uncaring person I have met. She made it very clear that her priority is money and not children. If you look, you will notice they are always hiring because the turnover is VERY high. Im assuming she treats her staff as bad as she does the parents and more importantly the children that go there. A very concerning situation happened with my son and when Phyllis was confronted, she placed blame elsewhere and got downright evil. There are a few good staff members there, but if you care for your children, DO NOT send them under her guidance.
I am at a complete loss for words. Phyllis is one of the rudest individuals I have ever encountered in my entire life. Never in my life have I seen such little power go to someone's head like it does with her. Her rudeness is of a level I have never seen. This establishment doesn't deserve to remain open and I feel awful for any family unfortunate enough to have to send their children here. If you are considering sending your kid here, I implore you to go ANYWHERE else.
This was one of the worst places I've worked. The staff is a bunch of inexperienced women who arnt trained in child behavior or education. And aren't willing to listen to someone who is. If your children go here, they will be grabbed by their teachers and forced to sit in chairs, instead of being TAUGHT how to listen. I was personally yelled at for trying to teach a child how to make the choice to listen, was told to "just grab him" Everything was like that, there wasn't any learning or education, just time managed child hearding. If you want your child to learn, and especially if you have children with special needs CHOOSE A DIFFERENT PLACE. And Philis is the worst, she gets on the intercom and yells at you if the kids are laughing, singing, playing "too loud" Unfortunately as much as I wanted to help, this is not a loving place for children. THIS IS NOT A PLACE OF GOD. just look at the out of touch sign when you first walk in. This place thinks it's OK to call people of different ethnicities "yellow". I could not believe my eyes. 😂
