We love this place for our kiddo. The infant staff is wonderful. The office is communicative and kind. The center is clean and welcoming. The food program is thoughtful and offers a lot of options. We appreciate that our kiddo is excited to see the teachers every day at drop off, and that they seem genuinely invested in our kiddo's development. It has been a very positive experience.
I can’t say enough good things about New horizon! The staff are incredibly warm, patient, and attentive — they truly care about each child’s happiness and development. My child has learned so much since starting here and actually looks forward to going every day. The facility is always clean, safe, and full of fun, engaging activities. Communication with parents is excellent — we always know what’s going on and how our little one is doing. I feel completely confident leaving my child here, and that peace of mind is priceless. Highly recommend this daycare to any parent looking for a loving and nurturing environment!
Now feeling like I can write this review a couple months later. I found my son multiple times in overly wet/poopy diapers to the point that the poop was dry. I brought it up at least 3 times and each time was met with apologies and was told by the director that she would speak with staff. My last straw was walking in and finding my son crying with his diaper falling off his body. There were about 3 other kids present with 2 staff. When I confronted staff somewhat emotionally I was met with an attitude. Another red flag for me was that they let the infants sleep in the swings which is against safe sleeping practices. Seemed to me like they were pretty understaffed/undertrained/unorganized. I would not recommend sending your child here.
These teachers are so welcoming and interact with the kiddos on a personal level. They create bonds with other parents, engage the kids in activities, and are always working to implement new teaching concepts! Plus they are excellent at getting them outside twice a day!
When we had our first baby this summer, I knew where I wanted to take her for childcare. Having worked for NHA in the past, I was familiar with their practices and felt comfortable leaving my newborn in their very capable hands. We toured NHA Columbia Heights, and knew it was the right place for us right away. From day one, we knew our baby was being cared for just like we would at home! Unfortunately, due to our own circumstances, we had to withdraw our daughter (hopefully temporarily!) from NHA. They could’ve easily let us go and said nothing, however Samantha the Director has kept in touch and still offers us resources she has to help us get back on our feet! It’s one thing for a daycare center to care about your family while you’re paying for their care, but it shows true love and passion for your community when it continues beyond that. I would recommend Samantha and her staff at NHA Columbia Heights to any family looking for a home away from home 🖤
