New Berean Baptist Church

I was in my car parked outside of this church with my daughter and her friend in the back seat when a man in a truck pulled up beside me and asked if he could help me with anything. I was polite and told him no sir. He then proceeded to tell me that this was all private property including the drive leading up to the church. He had no idea who I was or why I was there. I am glad that I was not someone possibly looking for a church or had questions about Christianity. His attitude and demeanor would have made me feel unwelcome at that church and turned me off right away. It is this attitude that people refer to when referring to self righteous Christian's who are condescending and judgmental that make many people feel like they don't belong. The website invites you to join the church service that you are welcome but their parishioners do not reflect that. It is not our place to judge. You are suppose to love everyone, love is one of Gods greatest attributes. This church should be ashamed of making anyone feel unwelcome in the house of God and that includes the driveway into the church.

Like another reviewer, we were in our truck, clearly not doing anything harmful, and in broad daylight when we were approached and asked what we were doing. I had 3 kids in the back seat, all of us on our phones. I could have been lost, just trying to get off the main road and find my way, whatever... The "church" is both a Pokestop AND a gym. I said we were just catching Pokemon. Again, this is DAYLIGHT hours, all of us with phones in our hands, Pokemon jams going. We were told we were "not allowed" to do that. I said we would leave and we still got attitude about not being allowed to be there. First, what kind of attitude is that? We were not approached in a friendly or welcoming manner like you would hope for potential newcomers. Second, if you don't want people even in your parking lot, contact Niantic and ask for the stop and the gym (because there are TWO reasons to go through the OPEN gate!) and have those removed. You set those up for your congregation to play during your sermon?? What on earth... How unwelcoming and just downright silly. I wouldn't walk through those doors for anything after being told, "Don't tell me how to run my church," to a truck full of kids playing Pokemon. Clearly the person who approached us is highly affiliated to refer to it as HIS church. No thanks, dude! We like our G-d/Jesus welcoming, kind, and otherwise with open arms! If your G-d/Jesus doesn't like visitors PLAYING and BEING A FAMILY, he should probably remove the VERY PUBLICLY VISIBLE invitation of the Pokestop and Pokemon Gym. Have a super day!
