What Parents Say

I was treated terribly by students. If you’re any type of LGBTQ or happen to be literally anything but a bleached blonde athlete you WILL get bullied. The school does nothing about it. Students are very much favored more than others by staff. This place made my mental health crumble. Students debated on what was in my pants, I got called an “it”. I was treated like absolute trash, misgendered on purpose by a teacher. This school sucks.
Day after day my kids and their friends and other students I know complain about food that should be hot is getting served cold and even partially frozen! And today this was sent from my son! Undercooked, cold and mush! This has been going on for a long time and does no good for the kids to say anything because you guys ignore their concerns! So would you honestly eat it? I surely wouldn't! Get it together Montpelier! Other pick is suppose to be meatloaf! You tell the kids to set an example, so maybe yall should 1st! Get your ducks in a row! No wonder why these kids all come home hungry!
The best school ever they are never doing the wrong thing
The staff are nice, but if your child starts late in the year or needs extra help, don't expect anyone to help them catch up/on to what the classes are learning. Our kids are extremely smart, but they're struggling at this school. The teachers just hand out assignments and don't offer help. My kids tell me that teachers yell and swear at the students. The lunches are really bad and they don't get enough time to eat, according to my kids. Drop off is easy, especially if you have kids in multiple grades. They all go in the same door. The school is well designed functionality wise. 4 wings, so the kids are generally with their own age group. Recesses are short, and they only get 1 (2 for 2nd and under, if they arrive before school starts). If I could take our kids elsewhere, I would. We don't plan to stay in Montpelier for long, so we'll make do while we're here, but if you have the option, I'd recommend a different school. Overall, my kids were happier in their school in Virginia and beg daily not to have to go to school here. Maybe it'll get better, but I'm not sure it will. UPDATE July 2024, we pulled our high schooler and put him in online schooling with Treca mid year. He refused to go to school, which is not like him. As the school year starts (our house just got listed for sale), our kids are dreading going back. Our middle school kids are beginning to attend Treca instead. Our elementary kids are a little more excited, but that is due to the fact that the school goes downhill starting in middle school.
I would have liked to give this place more stars, but the standards are simply falling apart. The cafeteria often runs out of food, the food that is served is often raw or extremely greasy, some students are treated better than others, people get in trouble for doing absolutely nothing, IEP students aren't given proper accomodations, some teachers are allowed to be rude to students without reprehension, and the high school principal is way too involved in students' personal lives. There are some good things about the school, such as the 3 E's program, but that's about as far as it goes. Overall, I would recommend sending your children elsewhere.
