Have you ever ordered food online? Paid for it online and arrive to pick it up and the receptionist is treating you like you are not supposed to show up and get your order? Me and my son have been coming here for at least 9 year's now. This is how im made to feel coming to this branch the past year.Female with beard before Christmas
East YMCA is a great family friendly atmosphere!! The staff is extremely helpful and positive!! My daughters and I love to stop by for a quick volleyball practice, swim or jog!
Regular staff is fine. THEY are always friendly. The management is sone of the laziest folk I've ever seen. They don't pick up the phones at the location. They don't update information or respond to community questions. It seems like management doesn't care but to hook up their friends. There is a large Korean Community that uses the facility. I can only imagine how rude the management is to them. Again regular staff is cool. Anything beyond paying dues you are refered to managements and their answering machine. I wanted to pause my membership a few months due to travel. I should be able to do that over the phone. Sarah was chilling with her friends on coffee break and didn't answer her phone so we stopped by for her no, on the pausing of the membership. Had to cancel. Regular staff is cool. Management is lazy here I'm sure there is plenty of nepotism.
My daughter spent most of her summers here in Good Times and it was a great experience. I had a really hard time finding a decent summer program for my daughter to go to while I worked, until I found East Y Good Times. They got to swim, go on field trips, and participate in lots of activities. She became a very good swimmer. The first day she went she came home excited saying how much she loved it. We never had any issues. Drop off and pick up were very organized and ran smoothly. The staff and Director were kind, patient souls, putting up with a lot of teenage antics. This is a terrific program
I signed my 4 year old son to take his first swimming lessons at this location (our first experience with the YMCA). The time slot that I signed up for didn't have enough kids, so the YMCA called and asked us to switch to an earlier class (slightly inconvenient, but not the end of the world). While I did not expect my son to learn to swim in a 2 week session, I was hoping he'd get accustomed to being in the water and start a good foundation for becoming a good swimmer. During the first 2 lessons my son spent a total of less than 6 minutes in the water - that's in 1 hour of class time (totally unacceptable)! There were only 6 kids in the class, and one didn't even get in the water both times. That isn't enough time in the water to learn much of anything. There was no repetition to reinforce the skills the children were learning - they only did things one time. The teacher gave poor instructions so that my son did not fully know what was expected of him. She seemed very unenthusiastic about her job and totally failed to motivate my son (she'd ask one time if my son was ready to get in the water, and did nothing to encourage him if he said no.). By the end of the third lesson my son was not progressing and was more hesitant to get in the water than when he started lessons. I don't swim myself, but honesty, I could probably do a better job teaching him. After 3 lessons, my husband and I decided that it was a waste of money and more detrimental than anything, so we cut our losses and did not go back to finish the lessons. We observed other swimming classes and noted overall poor teaching and that it wasn't limited to the preschool class or that particular teacher. We're extremely disappointed because this could be such an awesome resource for our community.
