Madison Day School - Custis Avenue

Both of my children attended MDS (the Del Ray location); my older son from 5 months until 4.5 and my younger son until 2.5. The only reason we left is because we moved out of state, and I was devasted to leave MDS. It is a truly special place. My kids were so well loved at MDS; they both thrived there. The teachers are incredibly affectionate and creative, and truly care about the kids. The school is well run with clear communication. It's a wonderful community and I'm eternally thankful that my kids were given such a strong foundation that I know will stay with them as they grow. I cannot recommend MDS highly enough to any parent!

Our daughter attended Madison from 8 months old until she started kindergarten. She had such a wonderful experience there. The teachers were truly like family members and treated her with so much love and kindness. The school is also run so smoothly. The administration puts together so many fun themed activities for the kids, guest speakers, field trips (once they can walk places like the fire station or post office), and concerts and parades for the parents to come watch. There is SO much communication from the administration to the parents too. My daughter also learned so much- she was writing, knew her numbers and letters, doing beginner math, and learning letter sounds in that last year before starting kindergarten- she was so ready for elementary school. We are so grateful to Madison for how well they took care of her and prepared her for kindergarten!

My son was there for five years, from six months old through Pre-K graduation, and my daughter attended for three years, starting at five months through Junior Preschool. We recently moved out of the area; otherwise, she would still be there. Madison Day School is well-organized, communicates effectively, and goes above and beyond to care for the children. The staff’s dedication is evident in the thoughtful activities and creative crafts they plan daily. I am impressed by how well my children were prepared for their next steps—my son transitioned to kindergarten with confidence, thanks to the foundation laid at MDS. There is also a great sense of community at the school, with many events that welcome parents and help families get to know one another. We met a lot of families we still keep in touch with today. Madison Day School is a special place, and we highly recommend it!

Your child will never be more loved or cared for, by a teacher, than they will be by the teachers at Madison. At drop off, the teachers would cheer my son’s name when he arrived and it made him so happy. He attended Madison for five months (7 months to 1 yr) in the infant room. Everyday, when I would drop him off, a teacher would meet me at the classroom door, take him from me, and give him a hug. The teachers make it very easy to trust them and know they are taking good care of your child. We would still be at Madison if we didn’t move out of state, and honestly we are missing how great Madison is. Other schools may have better technology or other bells and whistles, but no school can compete with Madison in the sincere, genuine, love that they have for every student. I cannot recommend Madison enough. Take your child there with confidence.
